Guide

Military and rescue robots are the largest area of robotics that is almost absent from shops yet present in service: unmanned ground vehicles carrying supplies and the wounded, EOD robots disarming charges, firefighting robots driving where no firefighter can, demining machines clearing fields. We list them as catalogue objects, with technical data, operators, unit numbers and prices from public procurement, not as front-line news.

Five groups

Unmanned ground vehicles for logistics and reconnaissance. THeMIS from Estonia (over 150 units for Ukraine, operators in 16 countries), Mission Master SP, the German GEREON RCS from Munich, the American S-MET Increment I and the wave of Ukrainian ground drones: Ratel S, Sirko-S1, Volya-E, TerMIT at about USD 12,000. They carry up to 750 kg, drive at 15 to 20 km/h and are radio-controlled over a few kilometres.

EOD and reconnaissance robots. A Polish speciality: PIAP IBIS, PIAP GRYF, PIAP TRM 2.0 and PIAP EXPERT from Łukasiewicz-PIAP and Tarantula for the army; alongside them the American PackBot 525, TALON and Centaur. Data: weight, manipulator lift capacity, control range, runtime.

Firefighting robots. Wolf R1 from Ulm, the Austrian LUF 60 and TAF20, the French Colossus known from the Notre-Dame fire, the American Thermite RS3 and the Polish TEC 800 for the State Fire Service. Key figures: extinguishing output in litres per minute, throw range, heat resistance, weight.

Evacuation and resupply. Vehicles that carry the wounded out of trenches and bring ammunition and water forward: TerMIT with its evacuation module, Zmiy Logistic, Ratel H, the THeMIS casualty-evacuation module, Mission Master SP - Rescue. Data: how many casualties, what payload, what range.

Search, rescue, demining. Quince from Fukushima, the EMILY rescue buoy, the Revolution underwater vehicle, the demining machines Digger D-250, Bozena 5 and MV-4, and the German KHG robots for work under radiation.

What the numbers mean

Payload decides whether a vehicle takes two stretchers and ammunition or just a camera: 750 kg for THeMIS, tens of kilograms for the small Ukrainian ground drones. Runtime from 2 to 15 hours; hybrid vehicles (diesel plus battery) run longest. Control range from a few hundred metres to a few kilometres line of sight, further over LTE or satellite. Status "in service" means the equipment is with operators but not freely for sale; "on sale" applies to firefighting and EOD robots that fire services and municipalities buy through tenders.

Where the prices come from

Military robots have no price lists. Where we give a price, it comes from a public tender or a contract divided by the number of units (with the calculation in the description), from a manufacturer's list price or from an official statement. Everything else is "on request". We show photos only where we hold the rights: US armed forces public domain, CC licences from Ukrainian services and manufacturers, Wikimedia Commons.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a firefighting robot cost?

We know prices from public procurement: LUF 60 about EUR 250,000 (the Paderborn district paid EUR 244,418), Thermite RS3 USD 272,000 (Los Angeles Fire Department), the Polish Angatec TEC 800 PLN (≈ EUR 185) 1.67 million per unit with trailer in a ten-unit order by the Polish State Fire Service, Colossus USD 210,000 list price and EUR 14.5 million for 40 units for Ukraine. Smaller models are quoted on request.

Which EOD and military robots are Polish?

Łukasiewicz-PIAP in Warsaw builds the IBIS, TRM, Expert and Gryf EOD robots and the Tarantula vehicle; the Polish armed forces bought 96 Tarantulas for about PLN 50 million (≈ EUR 11.46 million). The catalogue also lists PGZ and WB Group projects and Angatec's TEC 800 firefighting robot for the State Fire Service.

Why are some military robots not shown?

Armed robots, meaning vehicles and quadrupeds with rifles, grenade launchers or explosive charges, are not published in the open catalogue. We show only their unarmed variants; full data on armament and operators will be available after login in the planned customer area.
