QinetiQ is a publicly listed British defence technology group based in Farnborough whose US arm, QinetiQ Inc. – the former Foster-Miller of Waltham, Massachusetts – builds the TALON family of EOD robots, in service since 2000 and used in roughly 20,000 missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The US Army refurbished 353 TALON IVs in 2014; the armed SWORDS variant went to Iraq in 2007 with three units but never fired in combat. Together with Estonia's Milrem Robotics, QinetiQ North America developed the hybrid Titan carrier on a THeMIS chassis, evaluated in the US Army's SMET programme and the British ALMRS trials.
