Among the longest-serving machines in this section, the LUF 60 from LUF GmbH in Thüringen (Vorarlberg, Austria) is a diesel-driven tracked fire-support vehicle of roughly 2.2 t; sources quote 2.0 to 2.3 t depending on build year and fittings. A four-cylinder John Deere engine of 104 kW (140 hp) drives it hydrostatically at up to 4.5 km/h over slopes of 30 degrees.
Its signature is a cannon with 360 nozzles that turns up to 2,400 l/min into water mist thrown about 60 m (foam 35 m), backed by a 35 kW fan moving 90,000 m³/h, a 0–400 l/min monitor and a booster pump rated 10 bar at 2,400 l/min. Radio control works to around 300 m; camera systems are optional, as are a second fan, a winch, a rail-drive kit and a transport trailer.
Users include the fire services of Traunstein (procured 2024), Cologne, Rieden near Bregenz and Rankweil, the Baur group's works brigade and the Hong Kong Fire Services Department. The Baur group put the industrial purchase at about 250,000 EUR in February 2023, and Kreis Paderborn awarded a firefighting-robot contract to LUF Deutschland for 244,418 EUR on 24 July 2026 (TED 518887-2026) without naming the model.
Where the Wolf R1 relies on batteries, the LUF 60 trades weight for diesel endurance and a cooling mist curtain that ventilates at the same time.
