Summary

Over 1,800 ordered since 2020 under a framework worth more than USD 250 million: the Centaur is the US Army's medium EOD robot of record, built by Teledyne FLIR Defense for the MTRS Increment II programme and used by the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.

A July 2022 order of USD 62.1 million for 'nearly 500' systems including spares, antennas and mounting kits works out at about USD 124,000 per robot (62,100,000 divided by 500, rounded; source: Businesswire), after roughly USD 117,000 in 2021 (about USD 70 million for about 600).

The robot weighs roughly 72.6 kg ('roughly 160 lb'), runs on electric tracks, clears 15 cm obstacles, stairs and 30-degree slopes, and extends a five-axis arm to 192 cm. An EO/IR camera suite provides day and thermal vision, and CBRN sensors can be fitted; radio control follows the IOP interoperability standard.

The Centaur is unarmed and has no armed variants; its status is in service, with a commercial version on sale. The 2018 presentation date is derived from the programme start rather than the listed sources.

Its stablemates are the lighter PackBot 525 (26 kg) and the heavier Kobra 725 (250 kg); Poland's medium-class counterpart is the PIAP EXPERT with a 3 m arm.
