Guide

Robot sports are the most spectacular part of the catalogue: robots that fight in arenas, box, run half marathons and compete in track-and-field games. We list them as catalogue objects, with data, photos and results, not as news. Every robot has a page with weight, weapon or modifications, team, fight record or best result, and sources.

Three disciplines

Humanoid fighting. The REK league from San Francisco has staged human-controlled humanoid fights since 2025: REK T800 'Terminator' on the EngineAI T800 base, VR-controlled Unitree G1 versions and, since autumn 2026, blade deathmatches (T-REK and Rektile with AR500 steel blades). In China, humanoids fight in CMG's Mecha Fighting Series, at Kunlun Fight and in the weight classes of the Beijing Humanoid Robot Games. The base robots, Unitree G1, EngineAI T800 and EngineAI PM01, are in the humanoid category; here you find their combat versions.

Arena combat robots. The classics since the 1990s: BattleBots in the USA, Robot Wars in the UK, King of Bots in China. The catalogue covers the most decorated machines, from Tombstone and Bite Force to the British Razer and Chaos 2, with weight class, weapon type, fight record and titles.

Humanoid running and games. Beijing held the world's first humanoid half marathon in April 2025 and the first Humanoid Robot Games in August 2025, with 100 m, 400 m and 1500 m races, hurdles, football and kickboxing. The 2026 editions showed the leap: the winning half marathon time fell from 2:40:42 to 50:26 and the 100 m from 21.5 to 8.64 seconds. Robots such as Tiangong Ultra, Lightning and Noetix N2 have catalogue pages with their results; the full tables from every event are at the bottom of this page.

What the numbers mean

For combat robots the key figures are the weight class (up to 113 kg in the BattleBots heavyweight class, 110 kg in Robot Wars) and the weapon type: spinner (disc, drum, bar), pneumatic flipper, hammer, saw. For combat humanoids: base robot, modifications (armour, blades, protective cage) and the control method. For runners: time, number of battery and robot swaps (in the 2025 half marathon every robot swap carried a time penalty) and mode, remote or autonomous (in 2026 remote-controlled times were multiplied by 1.2).

How to read the results

The tables below contain only results with a stated source: official organiser lists, CCTV coverage, news agencies and trade press. Where sources disagree (for example 20 or 21 teams in Beijing 2025) we record both. We do not show photos from the Beijing events because they come from state media and are not free; robot photos appear wherever we hold the rights.

Frequently asked questions

How do humanoid fights differ from classic robot combat?

In the REK league and in Chinese tournaments, humanoids such as the Unitree G1 or EngineAI T800 fight under real-time human control (motion controllers or VR). Classic combat robots from BattleBots and Robot Wars are remote-controlled wheeled machines with spinners, flippers or hammers, built by teams in weight classes up to 113 kg.

What is the fastest humanoid half marathon time?

Tiangong Ultra won the first humanoid half marathon in Beijing in April 2025 in 2:40:42. One year later, in April 2026, the winner Honor Lightning covered the same distance in 50:26, and 47 of 102 teams finished. Full result tables for both editions are below.

Can you buy a combat robot?

Yes, in the small weight classes. Ready-to-run antweight (up to 150 g) and beetleweight (up to 1.36 kg) kits cost from about GBP 90 to CAD 230. Heavyweight BattleBots machines are built by their teams; the REK league sells used combat humanoids on request.
