Summary

Ninety-six sets for roughly PLN 50 million (≈ EUR 11.46 million), with an option for 130 and deliveries through the end of 2027: the Tarantula contract signed on 7 March 2025 is the Polish Army's largest order yet for reconnaissance robots and the first serial purchase of its kind from a domestic maker. Łukasiewicz – PIAP describes the system as a mobile unmanned reconnaissance vehicle (MURV).

Dividing the contract value by the quantity gives about PLN 520,800 (≈ EUR 119,340) per set (rounded; source: PIAP release of 10 March 2025). The robot is man-portable – one soldier carries it – and fits into the troop compartment of combat vehicles.

It is meant for reconnaissance in direct contact with the unit and for moving small loads; the drive is electric and the operator controls it from a console receiving audio and video from the sensors. The Tarantula is unarmed and has no armed variants. PIAP has not published detailed technical data such as weight, speed or range, so these remain open.

Defence24 earlier reported a new tender for the Tarantula with two interested companies; the programme belongs to PIAP, not to WB Group as sometimes stated. For room-level scouting PIAP offers the throwable PIAP TRM 2.0, while the German GEREON RCS, trialled by Poland in 2026, is a far larger carrier.
