Crowdfunded for Ukraine: in 2023 Slovak volunteers of the 'Darček pre Putina' (Gift for Putin) campaign raised 650,000 EUR for a Bozena 5 destined for Ukraine's State Emergency Service in Kherson region.
The sum covered accessories, transport, training of the Ukrainian crew and a conveyor belt, and maker Way Industries of Krupina granted a discount of about 90,000 EUR, so the machine itself costs less than 650,000 EUR (SITA, 2023). The tracked system weighs 12,020 kg, measures 732 × 335 × 223 cm and runs on a 170 kW diesel at working speeds of 4 to 9 km/h with 800 mm fording depth.
A detachable working unit carries a flail chain or tiller with a 2,655 mm clearing width for mine clearance and counter-IED tasks. Control is by radio, range unstated, with onboard cameras. The Czech Army lists the Bozena 5 in its inventory, Ukraine received five Bozena machines from Slovakia according to Obozrevatel, and the Indonesian Army operates an older model.
Figures of 6,983 kg and 110 kW found in some publications belong to the Bozena 4. The maker's website could not be resolved on 17 October 2026. Compared with the Swiss Digger D-250 of similar weight, the Bozena 5 is over 3.5 m longer and states a 2,655 mm working width that the D-250 does not specify; both show how 12 t flail machines dominate heavy humanitarian demining.
