Seventeen kilometres under fire to bring back three wounded soldiers who could not be evacuated for a month: that April 2025 mission, reported by Texty.org.ua, made the Ardal one of Ukraine's best-known casualty-evacuation robots.
The tracked platform comes from the design bureau KB BUREVII, led by director Viktor Dolhopiatov, was developed in 2024 with Brave1 backing and has served with the Ukrainian Armed Forces since then. It carries 250 kg – a casualty on a stretcher or supplies – and fits inside a European pickup.
The drive is electric, and the chassis shows front-line lessons: a cast, reinforced track, dynamic tensioning, sprung suspension and a sealed hull. Control is remote. Weight, speed, range and endurance have not been published and remain open.
The basic Ardal is unarmed; a variant carries the Burya weapon station from Frontline Robotics with a 40 mm Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher, showing how one carrier covers both evacuation and fire support. Pricing is on request.
In a similar role the Czech wheeled Trail-Blazer carries 350 kg, and the same Burya turret has been fitted to the German GEREON RCS and the Estonian THeMIS.
