Summary

Payload equal to self-weight – 1,200 kg carried on a 1,200 kg vehicle – is the headline figure of the ROOK, the 6x6 multi-payload UGV that Elbit Systems and Roboteam unveiled in November 2021. It builds on Roboteam's PROBOT, fielded in the United States, France, Israel and the United Kingdom, yet no customer has been announced for the ROOK itself, so its status is pilot and pricing is on request.

A hybrid system of batteries plus an optional generator provides 8 h of driving at up to 30 km/h; ground clearance is 24 cm. Operators use Elbit's TORCH-X application or a seven-inch control unit, one person supervising several vehicles, and the interfaces follow the UGV-IOP standard for third-party integration.

Payloads attach plug-and-play: ISR sensors, electronic warfare, logistics kits, casualty stretchers and, according to the maker, Elbit remote weapon stations – the baseline is unarmed, and sensor details are not disclosed.

In its class the ROOK competes with the Korean Arion-SMET (2 t, 550 kg payload) and the Canadian Mission Master SP, beating both on payload-to-weight ratio. European users of the ROOK are not documented; the earlier PROBOT is the family's foothold in France and the UK.
