Summary

Fire-service reconnaissance was the founding purpose of taurob GmbH in Vienna in 2010, and the taurob tracker was its answer: a tracked robot presented in 2012 and offered from 2013 as the Tracker Ex with ATEX Zone 1 certification for explosive atmospheres.

It weighs 60 kg, measures 100 × 58 × 42 cm, carries 25 kg and drives at 7 km/h; the batteries last 3 hours of driving or 10 hours of measuring, and the IP67 housing works from −20 to +60 °C. The robot climbs stairs, 40-degree slopes and 35 cm obstacles, while a four-axis manipulator reaches 140 cm and lifts 5 kg; cameras and gas sensors depend on configuration, and radio control works over 500 to 1,000 m in line of sight.

The Vienna professional fire brigade tested it in 2013, Austria's CBRN defence troops showed it at the Doppeladler 2016 exercise, TU Darmstadt's Team Hector used it in research, and Dortmund's fire service worked with the platform in the EU project SmokeBot (2015–2018) – the project behind the name 'Smokbot', not a Polish product.

Today taurob sells only the Inspector for oil and gas, so the tracker is listed as discontinued although no official announcement exists; no price was published. The Polish State Fire Service covers the same CBRN reconnaissance role with the PIAP IBIS sets bought in 2018 for three chemical-rescue groups.
