Minotaur

Only 22 cm tall, Minotaur is the drum spinner of RioBotz, the university team of PUC-Rio in Rio de Janeiro captained by Professor Marco Antonio Meggiolaro and driven by Daniel Freitas. The 250 lb (113.4 kg) machine was raised from 188 to 220 mm in 2019. Roughly 9 hp goes to the drivetrain, while two 13 hp motors spin the hardened-steel drum of about 50 lb (23 kg) to 8,000 rpm, according to 2019 figures.

Since its BattleBots debut in 2016, when it was named ‘most destructive robot’ and reached the semi-finals before losing to Bombshell, Minotaur has compiled a 25-10 record with 17 knockouts. Its best result came in 2018, when it reached the final and was knocked out by Bite Force at 2:05. In the 2026 BattleBots Pro League in Las Vegas the team again reached the semi-finals.

RioBotz has competed for more than 16 years; members include Gabriel Barsi, Carlos Junior, Rodrigo Almeida, Rodrigo Nogueira and Marcos Angeli. Build cost and price are not disclosed. Active.
