HUGE lives up to its name: two giant wheels carry a vertical bar spinner slung high between them, letting the robot strike opponents from above and making it impossible to flip over. Jonathan Schultz, an IoT engineer from South Windsor, Connecticut, built the unorthodox 250 lb (113.4 kg) machine, which has competed in BattleBots since 2018 with electric drive and radio control.
Its breakthrough came in 2023, when HUGE went 8-1 in World Championship VII, eliminated Copperhead along the way and lost the final to SawBlaze on a judges’ decision, finishing as runner-up. The career record stands at 20 wins and 12 losses. Fan sources describe a frame made of UHMW plastic, a detail the verified pages do not confirm.
Team HUGE also includes Garrett Santoline, Don and Joe Doerfler, Brendan Steele, Maddie Thumma, Rory Mangles, Kathryn Allen and Peter Lombardo. Build cost has not been disclosed. The robot remains active in the league.
