A spin-off of Oregon State University from 2015, Agility Robotics of Salem, Oregon, is one of the few humanoid makers that can point to real commercial deployments: the bipedal Digit works in warehouses and logistics, rented under a robots-as-a-service model, with about 1,000 units deployed and more than USD 300 million in contracted multi-year revenue.
The company has announced a SPAC merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI (planned Nasdaq ticker: AGLT) at a valuation of about USD 2.5 billion, with closing expected in 2026, which, if successful, would make it one of the first publicly listed humanoid makers, ahead of Figure or Apptronik. Total funding reaches USD 620 million.
Three generations of Digit are known; none is available in Poland, and the status of the SPAC finalization remains uncertain today.
History and development
In Salem, Oregon, there is a factory where humanoids are made: RoboFab, opened in December 2023 as the first mass-production plant for robots of this type. It is the showpiece of Agility Robotics, a spin-off of Oregon State University from 2015. The company's history runs from the laboratory through the bipedal Digit to logistics factories. In March 2023 the company showed a new version of Digit at the ProMat trade show, and in December 2023 it announced with GXO Logistics a pilot at the Spanx facility near Atlanta; in the same month Amazon reported tests of Digit in its warehouses. In June 2024 the robot began performing tasks at a GXO plant. In March 2026 the company shortened its name to "Agility". In September 2026 it presented Digit 5, designed to work closer to people, and IEEE Spectrum wrote that it may be the first humanoid worker safe enough for that purpose. On 28 September 2026 Digit arrived at a Mercado Libre facility in San Antonio, Texas. The company also announced a SPAC merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI at a valuation of about USD 2.5 billion; closing of the transaction was expected in 2026. More about robots in warehouses: “Agility Digit in Warehouses”.
Portfolio
The whole offer rests on a single idea: a bipedal robot for moving totes. Agility Digit is the current fleet: 15.9 kg payload, about 4 hours of work and, according to the manufacturer, more than 65,000 hours in production at Amazon, GXO and Toyota. Sales have run since 2023, and customers also named include Schaeffler and Mercado Libre. The commercial model is rental under robots-as-a-service, so the purchase price is not public. Agility Digit 5 is the successor: 22.7 kg payload (about 40% more than in v4), a vertical reach of 7.2 feet, and early access planned for the first half of 2027; general availability was announced for the end of 2027. Both models are unavailable in Poland. Applications are warehouses and factories. For how the cost balance of renting a robot works out, see “Humanoid Robot TCO: How to Calculate Total Cost”, and the category is described in “Humanoid robots”. The rental model has one advantage: the customer does not buy technology risk, only pays for the robot's work. It also has a drawback: the price is not disclosed, so offers are hard to compare without a sales conversation. The intention to raise payload in Digit 5 indicates that the maker wants to cover heavier tasks, not just light totes.
Market position
Agility is one of the few companies that can show real commercial deployments: about 1,000 units deployed and more than USD 300 million in contracted multi-year revenue. Total funding reaches USD 620 million, and the valuation in the planned merger is about USD 2.5 billion (planned Nasdaq ticker: AGLT). If the transaction goes through, the company will be one of the first publicly listed humanoid makers, ahead of Figure AI and Apptronik. It is also competed against by Tesla with Optimus, Boston Dynamics with Atlas and 1X Technologies, although the latter plays in homes, not warehouses. The status of the SPAC's finalization remains uncertain today, so the financial picture should be read with caution. In warehouses Digit also faces competition from wheeled robots, described in “AMR Robots in the Warehouse”. Forecasts for the whole class of robots are collected in “Humanoid Robot Market Forecasts”. Digit is one of the few humanoids that can be discussed in terms of actual hours worked rather than announcements alone.
Presence in Poland
None of the Digit generations is available in Poland, and there is no Polish distributor or deployment. On the Polish labor market and in logistics, humanoids are only beginning to appear; the context of the discussion is given in “Humanoid Robots and the Polish Labor Market”. A Polish company wanting to automate a warehouse today will reach rather for wheeled robots such as Locus Origin or MiR250, and can watch Digit from the sidelines. Amazon, one of Agility's customers, has its own logistics centers in Poland, but we have no information that Digit works in them. Anyone who wants to see similar technology in action should follow foreign deployments and logistics pilots.
Editorial verdict
Agility is a leader in practice, not just in presentations: several hundred million dollars in contracts and a thousand robots in the field are impressive. For a Polish company, though, Digit is out of reach, so the thing to do is follow developments. The biggest unknown is the SPAC, the second is Digit 5 and its safe work near people. For a decision-maker in logistics it is the best-documented humanoid on the market, although available only to very large customers.
