Summary

TRON 1 is a bipedal research and development robot from the Chinese company LimX Dynamics, positioned in the manufacturer's portfolio below the full-size humanoid Oli. TRON 1's specification is well documented on the manufacturer's official website: dimensions up to 392 x 420 x 845 mm, weight up to 20 kg, payload up to 10 kg, walking speed below 1 m/s in the point-foot/flat-foot variant (up to 3 m/s in the wheeled variant), a 211 Wh battery (46.8 V / 4.5 Ah) for about 2 hours of operation, an onboard 12th-generation Intel Core i3 computer with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB of storage, and an open Python SDK compatible with NVIDIA Isaac, MuJoCo and Gazebo.

The manufacturer describes it as a multimodal platform for research and development, a cheaper entry point for robotics labs before a possible move up to the more expensive full-size Oli. The price of TRON 1 has not been disclosed publicly.

The model's strength is that it comes from a financially strong company - LimX Dynamics has raised about USD 400 million at a USD 2.2 billion valuation and is preparing an IPO on the Hong Kong stock exchange - along with its well-documented technical parameters. The weaknesses are the lack of a published price and the short battery life of about 2 hours. The robot is not offered in Poland.

TRON 1 may interest research centers looking for a LimX Dynamics development platform, but before buying you have to contact the manufacturer directly about the price.

Running and deployment costs

LimX Dynamics has not publicly disclosed the price of TRON 1, so we give no figure. Before buying you have to contact the manufacturer and ask for a quote. In Poland the robot has no official distributor.

What we can do is work out the costs that do not depend on the hardware price. The 211 Wh battery (46.8 V, 4.5 Ah) gives about 2 hours of operation, so it is wise to have a spare battery and charger, because a working day with one pack turns into waiting. The onboard computer (Intel Core i3, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB) is included, but for training models you still need a GPU workstation, which for a lab can be a bigger expense than the robot itself. Training is mostly time: anyone who knows Python and simulators will get up to speed in weeks, not months.

How to calculate total costs is covered in “Humanoid Robot TCO: How to Calculate Total Cost”.

Applications

What it's for

TRON 1 is not a humanoid with arms and a head but a bipedal research platform: 20 kg of mass, about 84.5 cm in height, dimensions up to 392 x 420 x 845 mm. Its job is to give a laboratory a cheap, compact entry point into walking on two legs. The manufacturer describes it as a multimodal platform for research and development, positioned below the full-size Oli.

The data points to research on gait: the robot's code runs in NVIDIA Isaac, MuJoCo and Gazebo simulators. TRON 1 has an open Python SDK, and on board a 12th-generation Intel Core i3 computer with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB of storage, so experiments run directly on the robot. The use listed in the data is research.

What about payload? Up to 10 kg, which lets you mount sensors, an extra computer or a camera on its back. Walking speed is below 1 m/s in the point-foot or flat-foot variant and up to 3 m/s in the wheeled variant. That is a walking pace, not a run, but it is entirely enough for testing control.

Fields of use: “Universities and research”, laboratories and advanced education. Do not look here for work in a warehouse or a factory - the robot has neither manipulators nor that kind of runtime. What degrees of freedom are and what design trade-offs they involve is explained in “Degrees of Freedom (DOF) in Humanoid Robots”.

Who it's for

TRON 1 is for robotics labs that are starting out with bipedal walking and need a small, safe platform. Doctoral students writing about reinforcement learning, because the Python SDK and simulator support save months. Teams that later plan to move up to the more expensive Oli.

Probably not for: Anyone without the patience to deal with the manufacturer: the price has not been disclosed publicly, so you have to ask for a quote before buying. Those who want a robot for physical work - no arms, short runtime (about 2 hours) and low speed close off that path. Primary and secondary schools that need equipment for classes: dedicated robots described in “Educational Robots for Schools and Universities” are a better fit there.

The robot is not offered in Poland. If you need something easier to buy locally, look at Unitree G1 or at the quadruped robots covered in “Quadruped robots”.

Deployments

The available sources also describe no institutional deployments worldwide; the manufacturer points only to research and development uses.

In the category of bipedal and quadruped research platforms, many universities use Unitree robots, as we describe in “Unitree Go2 Review: Prices and the Air, Pro, X and EDU Versions” and “Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry”. That is a good reference point for what real deployments look like in a similar segment.

Comparison

Alternatives depend on whether you need walking on two legs or a general research platform.

LimX Oli - the full-size humanoid from the same manufacturer. More expensive (from USD 21,800), but with arms and a head, so better for manipulation.

Unitree G1 - a humanoid at about PLN 52,300 (≈ EUR 11,980 at NBP rate 4.3641 of 21 October 2026), 132 cm, 35 kg. It has arms and support available on the Polish market, but is heavier and larger.

EngineAI PM01 - a cheap humanoid at about PLN 46,500 (≈ EUR 10,660) for education and research, with a similar problem of short battery life.

Booster T1 - a development platform for teams that want something in the mid price class.

Unitree R1 - a smaller Unitree design from the lower price segment, useful for comparing trade-offs.

History

TRON 1 comes from LimX Dynamics of Shenzhen, the same company that showed the full-size Oli in July 2025 at USD 21,800. The launch date of TRON 1 itself is not given, so we do not guess. What is known is that in the manufacturer's portfolio it sits below Oli as a cheaper entry point for robotics labs.

The company is backed by about USD 400 million in capital at a USD 2.2 billion valuation and is preparing to list in Hong Kong. Those facts make TRON 1 a platform from a manufacturer with a long horizon, not from a garage startup. See the profile LimX Dynamics and the second product, LimX Oli.
