The Quadruped Robot That Went Mainstream
The Unitree Go2 is one of the most popular quadruped robots on the consumer market: a machine the size of a large dog, weighing about 15 kg, fitted with a 4D LiDAR (L2 configuration) and a wide-angle HD camera. The model appeared in the manufacturer's store in July 2023 (store) “How Does a Humanoid Robot Work”. Unlike much more expensive industrial platforms such as Boston Dynamics Spot, the Go2 is priced to reach hobbyists, content creators and universities, not just large companies “How Much Does a Humanoid Robot Cost in 2026” quadruped robots.
The Go2 family splits into four main consumer variants (Air, Pro, X and EDU) plus hardened industrial versions (ENT, A2, B2) aimed at field inspections, which fall outside the scope of this article.
Variant Prices
| Variant | Manufacturer price (USD) | Price in Poland (PLN) | Who it's for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air | 1,600 | about PLN 12,000 (≈ EUR 2,740) (Komputronik PLN 11,999 (≈ EUR 2,740)) | entry point, hobby |
| Pro | 2,800 | PLN 21,399 (≈ EUR 4,900) | standard variant |
| X | 4,500 | no confirmed data in Polish stores | advanced hobbyists, content creators |
| EDU | on request (manufacturer) | PLN 73,499 (≈ EUR 16,810) gross (Flystore, to order) | research, universities |
| EDU Plus | on request (manufacturer) | no confirmed data | research with higher compute power |
The Air, Pro and X prices come from the manufacturer's official store and exclude tax and shipping; the manufacturer gives EDU prices on request. In Poland the robot is sold by, among others, Flystore.pl (importer: INNPRO Robert Błędowski sp. z o.o. of Rybnik; the Pro shown as "available", the EDU "to order", 0% installments) and the Komputronik chain, where the Air and Pro were marked as temporarily unavailable on the day we checked.
Technical Data: What All Variants Share
All Go2 versions share a common mechanical platform: about 15 kg weight, 12 joint motors and a 4D LiDAR with a 360°×96° field of view, which handles obstacle avoidance and real-time terrain mapping “Degrees of Freedom (DOF) in Humanoid Robots”. According to the manufacturer the robot climbs slopes of up to 30° (Air) or 40° (Pro/X/EDU) and carries a payload of around 7-8 kg (up to about 10 kg at maximum in the Air and Pro, and about 12 kg in the X and EDU).
The differences between variants mainly concern speed and equipment:
- Go2 Air: top speed 2.5 m/s, 8,000 mAh battery (about 1-2 hours of operation), no voice assistant, 4G/GPS module or side-follow mode.
- Go2 Pro: speed 3.5 m/s, the same battery as the Air, the full set of consumer features from the mobile app.
- Go2 X: speed up to 3.7 m/s (briefly up to 5 m/s), capabilities close to the EDU, but without full developer access.
- Go2 EDU: 15,000 mAh battery (2-4 hours of operation), a depth camera, an optional Orin-class compute module (40-100 TOPS) and full access to software development (secondary development).
Control is through the manufacturer's mobile app, which offers modes for following the operator, gait demonstrations and automatic obstacle avoidance without any programming “How to Read a Robot Datasheet”.
Who Should Buy the Go2 and Who Should Wait
The Air is a sensible choice for someone who simply wants to try quadruped robotics without a large outlay; it lacks the 4G/GPS module and side-follow mode, however, which limits independent field use. The Pro is the recommended entry point for most buyers: higher speed and the full feature set for a relatively small premium over the Air.
For people planning their own control algorithms, the EDU is the only sensible choice: in the manufacturer's table only this version has full access to software development (secondary development), a depth camera and an optional compute module, useful for advanced locomotion experiments “Actuators in Humanoid Robots”. Universities and research labs that don't need full industrial autonomy but want a cheap way into mobile robotics most often choose this variant instead of much more expensive platforms in the Boston Dynamics Spot class Boston Dynamics Spot.
Comparison With the Competition
Against other quadruped robots the Go2 stands out mainly on price: even the EDU variant is several times cheaper than functionally comparable industrial platforms. The trade-off for this affordability is shorter battery life (1-4 hours, depending on variant) and lower payload than industrial-class models, which are designed to work in harsh field conditions for a full working day “Humanoid Robot Market Forecasts”.
The lack of industrial certification is not a design flaw but a deliberate manufacturer decision: the Go2 is not designed for explosive atmospheres, heavy dust or continuous rain, where far more expensive platforms in the Boston Dynamics Spot class are at home. A buyer who needs a robot for daily outdoor inspections in tough weather should consider the industrial segment rather than the consumer one, even if that means a budget many times higher.
Service, Warranty and Parts Availability
Polish sellers offer the standard consumer warranty in line with national law, regardless of the warranty period the manufacturer declares in China (6 months for the Air, 12 months for the other variants). In practice this means complaints are handled locally by the distributor, which shortens repair time compared with contacting an Asian manufacturer directly. When buying, check whether the seller offers post-warranty service and availability of spare parts (for example replacement feet and batteries) locally in Poland. This is an often-overlooked criterion that matters a great deal with intensive use of the robot.
Sources and Disclaimer
Price data and specifications come from the manufacturer's product page and store, from the offers of the Polish stores Flystore.pl and Komputronik; the full list is in the sources section above. Prices are given in US dollars (manufacturer's price list) and zloty (Polish store offers), as of September 2026. Prices in Poland change depending on availability and promotions; before buying, verify the current offer directly with the seller.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the Unitree Go2 cost in Poland?
On the day we checked, the Air cost about PLN 12,000 (≈ EUR 2,740) gross (Komputronik: PLN 11,999 (≈ EUR 2,740); Flystore: PLN 12,000 (≈ EUR 2,740)) and the Pro PLN 21,399 (≈ EUR 4,900) at both shops; prices depend on the store, promotions and availability. In the manufacturer's official store the Air costs $1,600 and the Pro $2,800 (excluding tax and shipping), but importing adds customs duty, VAT and shipping, hence the higher amounts at Polish sellers.
What is the difference between the Go2 Air and the Go2 Pro?
According to the manufacturer's table the Air is the base version without voice functions, a 4G/GPS module or the side-follow system (ISS 2.0), with a speed of 0-2.5 m/s, a climbing angle of up to 30° and a 6-month manufacturer's warranty. The Pro has those features, a speed of 0-3.5 m/s, a climbing angle of up to 40° and a 12-month warranty.
Is the Go2 suitable for programming your own algorithms?
In the manufacturer's table only the EDU has full access to software development (secondary development) - the Air and Pro have none and the X has partial access; the EDU also has a depth camera and an optional Orin-class compute module (40-100 TOPS). The Air, Pro and X variants are operated mainly through the manufacturer's mobile app.
How long does the Go2 run on a single charge?
According to the manufacturer the Air, Pro and X variants have an 8,000 mAh battery good for about 1-2 hours of operation. The EDU uses a larger 15,000 mAh cell, extending runtime to about 2-4 hours.
What can the Go2 be used for beyond demonstrations?
The Air and Pro work well as a hobby and educational platform for learning robotics. The EDU goes to research labs and universities as a base for developing their own autonomy, and the hardened industrial variants (ENT, A2, B2, outside the Go2 family) are aimed at inspection and field patrols.
