The NIX, sold by Lumos Robotics of Shenzhen as the NIX S3, is a child-sized bipedal humanoid of 89 cm, or precisely 892 by 445 by 176 mm, weighing 25.41 kg. Its 21 degrees of freedom are split into four per arm, one at the waist and six per leg, with peak joint torque of 102 N·m and a carrying capacity of 3 kg.
A Rockchip RK3588 handles the computing, while an RGB camera, a four-microphone array, a loudspeaker and a mini wireless microphone support interaction. The quick-swap 282 Wh battery lasts 2 hours and recharges through a 67.2 V, 2.5 A charger. Connectivity covers Wi-Fi, 4G and Bluetooth, and software arrives over the air.
Two editions exist, Professional and Education, but only the Education edition ships with an SDK; a remote control is included. Housings come in black or white. Lumos targets culture and tourism venues, entertainment, schools and homes. The robot is on sale with pricing on request.
Its full-size stablemate is the LUS 2, and a research platform of similar size is the Lightbot 0.
