Summary

Chinese quadruped specialist DEEP Robotics, based in Hangzhou, now also offers a humanoid model, the DR01. It is a significant change of direction for a company founded in 2017 and known until now mainly for its Lite3, X20, X30 and Lynx quadrupeds. The DR01 uses the company's own joints, the lightweight J60 and the high-torque J100, and autonomous learning is the foundation of its AI stack.

The manufacturer gives one concrete performance figure: the robot moves at more than 1.6 m/s and can climb 18 cm steps and 25-degree slopes, figures close to the ambitions of other Chinese humanoids such as the Unitree G1. Beyond that, the data is very sparse: height, weight, degrees of freedom, payload, battery capacity and price have not been published on verified manufacturer pages.

It is clear that DEEP Robotics' humanoid line is far less mature and less publicly documented than its industrial quadrupeds. The model is not available in Poland. For readers, that means the DR01 is best treated for now as a technology preview, not a finished commercial product with a full specification.

Running and deployment costs

There is no price for the DR01: the manufacturer gives only a sales contact for quotation requests. Everything below is a rough estimate meant only to set the scale. Reference points from the same company: DEEP Robotics quadrupeds range from USD 2,890 (DEEP Robotics Lite3, about PLN 11,202 (≈ EUR 2,570 at NBP rate 4.3641 of 21 October 2026)) through USD 17,999 (DEEP Robotics Lynx, about PLN 69,768 (≈ EUR 15,990)) to USD 65,000 (DEEP Robotics X30, about PLN 251,950 (≈ EUR 57,730)). Humanoids from other Chinese makers range from USD 12,000 to over USD 30,000 for base models. Costs beyond the purchase that you need to remember with any humanoid for terrain work: spare batteries and chargers, joint servicing (the J60 and J100 are in-house components, so spare parts depend entirely on the manufacturer), insurance and operator training. Applications

What it's for

The DR01 is a humanoid from a company that spent years building quadrupeds for work in mud, on stairs and in places where people should not go. That explains what the manufacturer is preparing it for: terrain exploration. The published information points to terrain reconnaissance as the application, and to industry and research as the target audience. The robot has "perception fusion" for navigating uneven ground, its own joints (the lightweight J60 and the high-torque J100) and an AI stack based on autonomous learning. The manufacturer gives just two concrete figures, and both describe terrain. A speed of more than 1.6 m/s, which is over 5.7 km/h, a brisk walk. And the ability to climb 18 cm steps and 25-degree slopes. The manufacturer publishes neither payload nor degrees of freedom nor dimensions. An important distinction for the reader: the DR01 is listed as available for sale, but "available" here means only a sales contact for quotation requests. There is no price list and no set of parameters from which a deployment could be planned. Applications worth considering: security (patrols), construction sites (terrain reconnaissance), factories (inspections). Today, however, this is an announcement, not an offer.

Typical applications

  • Terrain exploration

Who it's for

Best suited to: research teams and innovation departments at companies that already work with DEEP Robotics quadrupeds and want to judge whether the brand's humanoid is approaching a useful level. Integrators tracking Chinese designs (“Chinese Humanoid Robots”). People interested in comparing quadrupeds with humanoids for terrain work (“Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry”).

Who it does not suit: buyers who need a datasheet, a price and service. Height, weight, DOF, payload and battery capacity have not been published on verified manufacturer pages, so you cannot even check whether the robot meets your requirements (“How to Read a Robot Datasheet”). Not for companies in Poland that would like to order it: the model is not available in Poland. Not for schools and universities with an education budget. If you need a robot for difficult terrain today, look at quadrupeds from the same brand: DEEP Robotics X30, DEEP Robotics Lynx.

Deployments

There are no published deployments of the DR01; the only described application is terrain reconnaissance, with no customer names. In the category of terrain robots, real deployments concern quadrupeds; we collect examples and scenarios in the article “Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry”.

Comparison

Because the DR01 has no full specification, we choose alternatives by its stated role: a humanoid for difficult terrain or a research platform. Unitree G1: 132 cm, 23 DOF, USD 13,500 (about PLN 52,329 (≈ EUR 11,990)); the best-documented, available humanoid in this class and a reference point for the ambitions the DR01 is compared with. Booster T1: 118 cm, 23 DOF, USD 33,949 (about PLN 131,593 (≈ EUR 30,150)), a robot used in competitions and research. EngineAI PM01: 140 cm, 24 DOF, USD 12,000. LimX Oli: 165 cm, a humanoid from a company known for quadrupeds, so a path similar to DEEP Robotics'. If terrain matters more than hands, consider the Boston Dynamics Spot quadruped (USD 74,500, about PLN 288,800 (≈ EUR 66,180)) or the DEEP Robotics Lite3 (USD 2,890, about PLN 11,202 (≈ EUR 2,570)). Parameter comparisons for all the models mentioned, including height, payload and degrees of freedom, are in the tables in our humanoid robot catalog (humanoid robots) and in “How to Read a Robot Datasheet”, which shows how to tell a measured parameter from a claimed one.

History

DEEP Robotics (Hangzhou Deep Robotics, in Chinese 杭州云深处科技) was founded in 2017 in Hangzhou. It is known for its quadrupeds, the Lite3, X20, X30 and Lynx, built for inspection and work in difficult terrain. The DR01 is its first humanoid, a significant change of direction for a company that until now mainly developed four-legged machines. The sources give no launch date, so we do not include one; all that is known is that the model appears on the manufacturer's site in the humanoid section. The difference in maturity is visible: the quadrupeds have full documentation, the humanoid only isolated parameters.
