Summary

Among the three variants of the Adam family described here, the SP stands out as the one with the most degrees of freedom: 41 DoF at 167 cm and 62 kg, with five-fingered hands designed for using tools and a payload of about 5 kg. Its PSA quasi-direct-drive actuators reach up to 360 N·m of torque, more than in the cheaper Lite variant (340 N·m with 25 DoF).

Top speed is 6 km/h and battery runtime is about 2 hours per charge. Its strength is advanced manipulation thanks to the five-fingered hands, which set the SP apart from the simpler Adam and Adam Lite variants, and it now also has an openly stated price and basic motion data. Its weakness remains the lack of information on the perception system: beyond movement, the specification is limited to mechanics.

The model is not available in Poland. With an openly stated price and an emphasis on tool manipulation, the Adam SP is aimed mainly at R&D teams and industrial integrators who care about precise, multi-joint manipulation and not just unit cost.

Running and deployment costs

Purchase. A third-party aggregator lists 100,000 USD, which is 387,600 PLN (≈ EUR 88,820) at a rate of 3.8762 (NBP, 1 October 2026). That is the base price; the delivered cost will be higher.

Import. As a rough estimate, add shipping, customs duty and 23% VAT; the total could reach 450,000-470,000 PLN (≈ EUR 103,110–107,700) gross. That is our estimate, not a manufacturer's calculation. Companies that are active VAT payers can deduct the tax.

Operation. Two hours of runtime is short; the manufacturer's sources give no cost for a spare battery, so we will not estimate it without guessing. Service: no representative in Poland.

Training and integration. Imitation learning needs an AI engineer. As a rough estimate, plan several months of such an engineer's work, and that time can be a significant budget line.

The full calculation is in “Humanoid Robot TCO: How to Calculate Total Cost”.

Applications

What it's for

The Adam SP is the PNDbotics family variant that stands out for its hands. It has 41 degrees of freedom (DOF), stands 167 cm tall, weighs 62 kg, has five-fingered hands designed for using tools, and carries about 5 kg. Its quasi-direct-drive actuators reach up to 360 N·m of torque. Top speed is 6 km/h and battery runtime is about 2 hours. The manufacturer does not disclose the perception system, so we do not know which cameras or sensors the robot uses to recognize its surroundings.

Working with tools. Hands designed for using tools and imitation learning (an operator demonstrates a task and the robot learns to repeat it) point to work with tools. A five-fingered hand allows a kind of grip that a simple two-finger gripper cannot manage. This is the most interesting use for the SP and the main reason the manufacturer positions it as a manipulation model.

Factory and R&D. Research teams inside plants can test whether a humanoid can handle tasks at existing workstations; see factories and “Humanoid Robots in Factories 2026”. A 5 kg payload is the order of magnitude of light parts, not heavy loads.

AI laboratory. A large number of degrees of freedom plus hands make a complete kit for research on imitation learning and on VLA models (see “VLA Models: How AI Controls Humanoid Robots in 2026”). Research uses: “Laboratories”.

University. Robotics departments can use the SP as a platform for research on two-handed manipulation; see universities. Two hours of runtime is enough for a demonstration session, but not for shift work.

Typical applications

  • Tool use
  • Manipulation tasks

Who it's for

Worth considering for: R&D teams in industry and at universities that want to study two-handed tool manipulation; integrators evaluating whether a humanoid makes sense on a production line and who need to know the real payload and number of degrees of freedom; and firms with robotics programmers and experience in imitation learning.

Probably not for: plants looking for a worker for a full shift, since 2 hours of runtime and 5 kg of payload are too little. We do not recommend it to companies without an IT department or to those who expect local service. Small businesses will not buy it either, since 387,620-383,000 PLN (≈ EUR 88,820–87,760) is too high a cost against the risk.

On safety: before a humanoid stands next to people, it has to go through the standards described in “Robot Safety Standards”; we found no information on any SP certifications.

Deployments

PNDbotics has no Polish representative, and no documented SP installations, either in Poland or abroad.

Among humanoids in industry and logistics are Agility Digit (“Agility Digit in Warehouses”) and Apptronik Apollo at Mercedes (“Apptronik Apollo in Mercedes-Benz Factories”). The US market is also covered in “Figure 03: What We Know About Figure AI's Third-Generation Robot”. The overall picture is in “Humanoid Robots in Factories 2026”. Readers getting into manipulation will find broader background in “How Does a Humanoid Robot Work”.

Comparison

PNDbotics Adam Lite is from the same family, pricier (120,000 USD), lighter, with 25 DOF and a payload of about 5 kg; usually the worse choice if manipulation matters.

Unitree G1 EDU costs about 286,500 PLN (≈ EUR 65,650), with a mature ecosystem and a variant meant for researchers; for many teams the safer choice.

Tesla Optimus Gen 2 is listed at about 116,286 PLN (≈ EUR 26,650), though availability to outside customers has not been confirmed; see “Tesla Optimus: What We Actually Know (as of September 2026)”.

AgiBot A2 is a Chinese platform at about 213,200 PLN (≈ EUR 48,850).

Fourier GR-1 suits research on manipulation and rehabilitation.

If you need manipulation alone, without walking, look at cobots, with details in “What Is a Cobot and How Does It Differ from an Industrial Robot”. Before choosing, compare the degrees of freedom, payload and runtime of each machine using the same method; “Degrees of Freedom (DOF) in Humanoid Robots” offers guidance.

History

The Adam SP is one of the variants of PNDbotics' Adam family, alongside the base Adam, the Lite and the Pro. What sets it apart from the family is the largest number of degrees of freedom and its five-fingered hands. The price, speed and runtime data come from a third-party aggregator (September 2026).

We found no launch date for the SP in the sources and no information on earlier versions. The evolution of the family does suggest specialization, though: the Lite as the lighter one, the SP as the manipulator. Industry backdrop is in “Humanoid Robot Market Forecasts”, and the comparison with Chinese competitors in “Chinese Humanoid Robots”. How hands and actuators look at other manufacturers is covered in “Actuators in Humanoid Robots”.
