CyberDog 2 is the second generation of Xiaomi's quadruped robot, designed for programmers, hobbyists and robotics enthusiasts rather than industrial use. It weighs just 8.9 kg, has 12 degrees of freedom and reaches a speed of 1.6 m/s, but battery life is limited to 1.5 hours, noticeably less than on the rival Unitree Go2, which makes CyberDog 2 less practical for longer field sessions.
Its strength is the equipment: CyberGear micro-actuators that allow flips and self-righting after a fall, 19 sensors in total (including a LiDAR and an Intel RealSense D430 depth camera), and an NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX computer with 8 GB of RAM running Ubuntu 18.04 with ROS2, a solid development platform for the price.
In China the price is CNY 12,999 (about USD 1,800, about PLN 6,980 (≈ EUR 1,600) at the rate of 3.8762 from October 1, 2026), and international resellers add customs duty, raising the cost to USD 1,800-3,000. The robot has no official distribution in Poland or the EU, so buying requires import. CyberDog 2 suits programmers and hobbyists building their own ROS2 applications, not commercial uses that demand long autonomy.
Price in China CNY 12,999; international sellers and importers charge USD 1,800-3,000 depending on customs duty and region.
In China, CyberDog 2 costs CNY 12,999, or about USD 1,800, which comes to about PLN 6,980 (≈ EUR 1,600) at the rate of 3.8762 from October 1, 2026. International resellers and importers add customs duty and margin, pushing the price to USD 1,800-3,000 depending on region. There is no official price in Poland, because there is no official distribution in Poland or the EU.
As a rough estimate, on top of the purchase cost come shipping, customs duty and VAT on import, a spare battery (a single one lasts about 1.5 h) and time to set up the Ubuntu 18.04 and ROS2 environment, which is an older system version and may require extra workarounds. Warranty and service have to be arranged yourself, which can be costly when importing from China. For a university or school, the purchase is sometimes funded by a grant; you will find a comparison with educational alternatives in “Educational Robots for Schools and Universities”.
No confirmed distributor in Poland
CyberDog 2 is a four-legged development platform, not a robot for the factory floor: it is for people who want to write their own program for a walking robot and run it on real hardware. Our catalog describes three uses: demonstrations, hobby, and small-scale development and research.
The technical foundations for that kind of work are solid. The robot weighs 8.9 kg, has 12 degrees of freedom and reaches 1.6 m/s. CyberGear micro-actuators let it perform acrobatics such as flips and get back up on its own after a fall, a practical feature, because while you test algorithms the robot will fall over. On board are 19 sensors, including a LiDAR, an Intel RealSense D430 depth camera and an RGB camera, and the brain is an NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX with 8 GB of RAM, running Ubuntu 18.04 with ROS2. That is a setup on which students learn navigation, SLAM and perception, and enthusiasts build their own applications.
It therefore works well in universities and schools, as a demo at a technology booth or at events. For commercial work, such as patrolling a site or inspections, a battery of 1.5 hours is not enough. Industrial-class robots exist for such tasks, described in “Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry”; CyberDog 2 stays in the role of a platform for learning and experiments. If you want a model with Polish support, look at Unitree Go2 and read “Unitree Go2 Review: Prices and the Air, Pro, X and EDU Versions”.
Yes: for programmers and students who want to learn ROS2, perception and control of a walking robot on hardware with a real LiDAR and depth camera. Yes: for technically experienced hobbyists ready for import and configuration. Yes: for university labs with a small budget for a quadruped.
No: for companies looking for a robot to work on a site; 1.5 hours of battery life and no official distribution in Poland or the EU are clear barriers. No: for people expecting on-site service and warranty, because buying requires import. No: for users who want a ready-made application without programming. If you need a quadruped with better backing, read “Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry” and compare it with Unitree Go2.
The robot has no official distribution in Poland or the EU, so we have no documented installations. Outside Poland, too, we have no described deployment naming a company on record; all we know is that the model goes to programmers, hobbyists and demonstration booths. In the quadruped category, documented uses are mainly inspections of industrial facilities and research platforms, as we write in “Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry” and in the article on “Boston Dynamics Spot: Price, Uses and Availability in Poland”. Category overview: quadruped robots.
Unitree Go2: the main rival, at PLN 6,200 (≈ EUR 1,420) in our catalog, 1.5 h runtime, speed of up to 3.5 m/s and an 8 kg payload. Faster and better documented in Polish sources; details in “Unitree Go2 Review: Prices and the Air, Pro, X and EDU Versions”.
Unitree Go2: a variant with 2 h runtime and speeds of up to 5 m/s, at the same price in our catalog; sensible when you need more mobility.
DEEP Robotics Lite3: about PLN 11,200 (≈ EUR 2,560), 2 h runtime, 5 kg payload; more expensive, but built with research and training in mind.
Loona Petbot: about PLN 2,100 (≈ EUR 480); an AI toy with personality, with no ROS or LiDAR, for those looking for a companion robot.
Sony aibo ERS-1000: about PLN 11,200 (≈ EUR 2,560), a home robot dog in an entirely different role from a research platform.

Xiaomi unveiled CyberDog 2 in August 2023 and launched it on the market then; that is the only event on record for this model. The name points to a second generation, but we have no details of the earlier version in our catalog, so we do not give them. Xiaomi is a Chinese group from Beijing, known mainly for consumer electronics; in legged robotics it also appears with the CyberOne humanoid, which remains a prototype. The market context of comparisons with Unitree is described in “Unitree Go2 Review: Prices and the Air, Pro, X and EDU Versions”, and the broader picture of quadrupeds in “Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry”.
