Summary

The Loona Petbot Premium Edition is an interactive pet-style companion robot made by KEYi Technology, a Chinese company from Shenzhen founded in 2016. It moves on wheels and has a camera, a microphone and touch sensors, and its behavior, from facial expressions to mini-games and educational content, is driven by a mobile app connected to KEYi’s cloud. The Premium Edition bundle (Loona plus a charging station plus play accessories) costs USD 499 in the U.S. On Ceneo.pl, Poland’s main price-comparison site, real prices from Polish retailers for the same Premium Edition are higher: Proshop.pl at PLN 2,099 (≈ EUR 480) and X-kom.pl at PLN 2,499 (≈ EUR 570).

It is one of few robots in this segment with confirmed, real availability in Poland: model KY004LN01 (Premium version: KY004LN01_PR) is listed at Media Expert, on Kaufland.pl and on Ceneo.pl. Compared with other toy and home-companion robots, Loona stands out for a rich interaction layer (speech recognition, gestures, personalization) at a relatively low price next to the humanoid or industrial robots in this comparison.

The robot suits mainly families with children and people looking for an electronic stand-in for a pet without the care duties. It is not a device for professional use, nor for technical education in the strict sense.

Price and availability in Poland

Price in Poland from 2,499 PLN (≈ EUR 570) 1 offers from Polish retailers · as of 9 October 2026

US store price: USD 499 for the Premium Edition bundle (Loona + charging station + play accessories). In Poland it is available at Media Expert (KY004LN01 / KY004LN01_PR) and via Ceneo and Kaufland. According to the Ceneo listing (ceneo.pl/157969461), actual PLN prices for this product are PLN 2,099 (≈ EUR 480) (proshop.pl) or PLN 2,499 (≈ EUR 570) (x-kom.pl).

Running and deployment costs

The price in the U.S. store is USD 499 for the Premium Edition bundle (robot, charging station and play accessories), or about PLN 1,934 (≈ EUR 440) at a rate of 3.8762. In Poland real prices are higher: according to Ceneo.pl, Proshop.pl offers this bundle for PLN 2,099 (≈ EUR 480) and X-kom.pl for PLN 2,499 (≈ EUR 570). An order from the U.S. would add customs duty and tax, so the Polish offer is by no means the worse choice.

Running costs are low compared with a real animal: our rough estimate is that charging electricity comes to a few zloty a year, and extra accessories may be the bigger expense. The sources do not say whether the manufacturer charges a subscription for cloud features, so check before buying, because for server-dependent apps this is a risk. No training is needed; the robot is simple enough, we estimate, that a child can handle it with a parent’s help.

Applications

What it's for

Loona Petbot is a companion robot for the home, not for work: it does not clean, carry groceries or have anything to do with industry. Its job is keeping you company.

The robot moves on wheels and has a camera, a microphone and touch sensors, and its behavior, from facial expressions to mini-games and educational content, is driven by an app connected to the manufacturer’s cloud, KEYi Technology. In practice that means three groups of uses. The first is play: mini-games and reactions to gestures and voice. The second is companionship, for children and for people who want a pet without walks and food shopping; it is an “electronic stand-in for a pet”. The third is light education: the robot delivers educational content, but it is not a programming kit in the technical sense.

An important limitation: some features depend on the cloud and the app. The story of Moxie, whose servers were shut down in January 2025, shows that with companion robots it pays to ask what remains once the manufacturer stops maintaining the service. Loona is not for professional use, not for an office and not for a reception desk. For more on this class of device, see home robots and homes.

Typical applications

  • Play
  • Companionship
  • Education

Who it's for

A good fit: families with children who want to bring something more “alive” than a plush toy into the home, but cheaper than an advanced robot dog. People in rented apartments where pets are often banned. Those who value being able to buy the device in a store in Poland: Loona is one of few robots of this kind with confirmed availability.

Not a good choice for: schools looking for a tool to teach programming, for which the kits in educational robots are better. Companies and institutions that want a robot to do actual work. Privacy-sensitive users, because the robot has a camera and a microphone and connects to the cloud; read “Data Security: Robots with Cameras and the GDPR” before buying. And anyone expecting the agility of an animal: the robot rolls on wheels and does not walk.

Deployments

Confirmed institutional deployments in Poland: none, because Loona is a consumer product. The only fact that can be considered confirmed is commercial availability: model KY004LN01 (Premium version: KY004LN01_PR) is listed at Media Expert, on Kaufland.pl and on Ceneo.pl.

Home and companion robots usually go to families, not to companies. Educational institutions prefer programming kits, and at home you will also find cheaper desktop robots. See home robots.

Comparison

The best-known alternative is Sony aibo ERS-1000, a robot dog from Sony Group with 22 degrees of freedom that responds to touch like a dog. It costs USD 2,899.99 (about PLN 11,241 (≈ EUR 2,570)) with a three-year cloud plan, more than five times the price of Loona, and has no confirmed distribution in Poland. It is a choice for the enthusiast, not for a family on a tight budget.

A cheaper option is Eilik at USD 199 (about PLN 771 (≈ EUR 175)), a desktop companion with emotions but no distributor in Poland. EMO from Living.AI sits in a similar price bracket, from USD 279, also with no Polish distributor and sold through the manufacturer’s store and Amazon.

Loona beats them on one point: you can buy it in Polish stores rather than having to import it.
