Xiaomi, the Beijing consumer-electronics giant listed in Hong Kong (HKG:1810), treats robotics as a complement to its core smartphone and IoT business. Its consumer-and-research quadruped line includes CyberDog 2, on sale for USD 1,800 (about PLN 6,980 (≈ EUR 1,600)) with 1.5 hours of runtime, aimed at developers, researchers and hobbyists, which puts it in direct price competition with the Unitree Go2.
Alongside it the company has shown the CyberOne humanoid prototype (177 cm tall, 1.5 kg payload), which remains a technology demonstration with no commercialization date. Xiaomi's advantage is brand recognition and electronics manufacturing scale; its weakness is the lack of robotics specialization comparable to Unitree or UBTECH. None of the models is officially available in Poland.
History and development
Xiaomi did not start out as a robotics company. It is a Beijing consumer-electronics giant, listed in Hong Kong (HKG:1810), that built its position on smartphones and IoT devices and treats robotics as a natural extension of that ecosystem. As a result, the story of its robots is one of showcases and prototypes, not of a production line for industrial customers. The first high-profile step was the CyberDog quadruped, presented as a platform for developers and hobbyists, that is, for people who want to see what a low-cost robot with an open programming environment can do. In August 2022 the CyberOne humanoid took the stage, standing 177 cm tall and weighing 52 kg, shown as a demonstration of what the company can build in walking, perception and control. A year later, in August 2023, CyberDog 2 went on sale: a second-generation quadruped clearly aimed at consumers, researchers and enthusiasts. The sequence is easy to read: first an image-building humanoid, then a product you can actually buy. Xiaomi does not disclose its founding year for the robotics effort, headcount or robotics spending, so we do not guess. The latest chapter is a 2026 pilot of CyberOne in Xiaomi's electric-vehicle factory, mentioned in the model's description; it signals that the company wants to test the humanoid on its own shop floor before anyone outside sees it. For the wider picture of the humanoid market, see “Humanoid Robot Market Forecasts”, and for how such machines are built, read “How Does a Humanoid Robot Work”.
Portfolio
Xiaomi's portfolio in our catalog has two entries, very different in nature. The first is Xiaomi CyberDog 2, a quadruped weighing 8.9 kg with 12 degrees of freedom and about 1.5 hours of battery life. It costs around USD 1,800, or roughly PLN 6,980 (≈ EUR 1,600), placing it among small robots for developers, researchers and hobbyists. At that price a university team can buy several units for classes and an enthusiast can buy one for home, but it is not a robot for shift work; 1.5 hours is a time for experiments, not for duty. The second entry is Xiaomi CyberOne, a research humanoid from 2022, 1.77 m tall, weighing 52 kg with a 1.5 kg payload. It has prototype status, has never been sold commercially and remains a technology demonstration. If you are looking for a similarly priced quadruped, compare it with the Unitree Go2; if you are interested in humanoids available to order, look at the Unitree G1. We cover the whole quadruped category in quadruped robots and humanoids in humanoid robots. The meaning of the degrees of freedom mentioned for CyberDog 2 is explained in “Degrees of Freedom (DOF) in Humanoid Robots”. Xiaomi points CyberDog toward demonstrations, hobby use and light research, so for the education angle also see universities.
Market position
Xiaomi's position in the robot market is unusual: it is a player with enormous electronics production scale and a well-known brand, but without a dedicated robotics line. We have no data on funding or valuation of its robotics unit, so we give no numbers we cannot back up. What we do know is that CyberDog 2 competes on price directly with Unitree Robotics, whose Go2 is the reference point for low-cost quadrupeds, and that DEEP Robotics and Ghost Robotics stand nearby, the latter aiming at specialized applications. Among humanoids, CyberOne has no rival on the sales market today because it is not offered for sale; it is compared instead with showcases from UBTECH Robotics or XPeng Robotics, other Chinese companies that combine automotive or electronics businesses with robotics. Xiaomi's strengths are its distribution channel, mass-production know-how and user base; its weaknesses are the absence of evidence of commercial humanoid deployments and no declared specialization. According to the manufacturer, CyberDog 2 customers are developers, researchers and enthusiasts, not companies with a specific contract. We describe the context of the Chinese market in “Chinese Humanoid Robots”.
Presence in Poland
None of Xiaomi's models is officially available in Poland, and we know of no distributor or Polish reseller. We are also not aware of any CyberDog 2 or CyberOne deployments in Polish companies or universities; if any exist, they have not been confirmed. An interested buyer can only rely on individual import, which means no Polish warranty or service and the need to handle VAT and customs duty yourself. The indicative price of PLN 6,977 (≈ EUR 1,600) is a conversion from dollars, not a domestic offer. For a wider look at who is active in robotics in Poland, see “Polish Robotics Companies”.
Editorial verdict
Xiaomi is an interesting observer, not a supplier for Polish industry. CyberDog 2 works well as a cheap quadruped for learning and experiments, provided you accept import without local support and 1.5 hours of runtime. CyberOne remains a showcase of capabilities and cannot be bought. If you need a robot for real work, look at Unitree Robotics or Boston Dynamics. Practical advice: buy CyberDog 2 only if you need an inexpensive platform for learning robot programming and can live with importing it. For business use, models with service in Europe will serve you better.
