The Mobile FR3 Duo is a prototype dual-arm mobile manipulator from Germany's Franka Robotics, built for research into teleoperation, mobile manipulation and embodied AI. It is not a commercial product. Two Franka Research 3 arms (each with a 3 kg payload) sit on the holonomic, omnidirectional Tactile Mobile Robot (TMR) platform, optionally mounted on a Franka Spine vertical lift.
The complete system has 18 degrees of freedom, weighs 225 kg, stands 146.1 cm tall and travels at up to 1.5 m/s. The TMR base alone carries up to 125 kg and runs on four LFP batteries (24V/21Ah each, a 48V/44Ah pack) with wireless inductive charging and wired emergency charging, 2,112 Wh in total.
The sensor suite includes two Sick NanoScan3 LiDARs, four Intel RealSense D455 cameras for all-round vision, an optional ZED Mini stereo camera in the head and an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin (64 GB) computer running ROS 2 Humble.
Among research mobile manipulators it is a direct counterpart to platforms such as the PAL Robotics TIAGo++ or Fraunhofer's dual-arm robots; Franka's edge remains the torque sensor in every arm joint, familiar from the Franka Research 3. The manufacturer states plainly that this is a lab prototype, without IEC 60204/ISO 13849 certification and not approved for production or safety-critical applications.
It is not for sale, in Poland or anywhere else.

Running and deployment costs
There is no price: this is an in-house prototype with no series production, and you cannot buy it at any price. So instead of an invented quote, here are the building blocks. The two FR3 arms alone come to an estimated USD 50,000-70,000 (two times 25,000-35,000); the TMR platform with its 125 kg payload, the Sick LiDARs, the RealSense cameras and the Jetson AGX Orin come on top, and we do not know their prices for this configuration. Treat this as an order of magnitude, not a quotation.
Running costs: LFP batteries (24V/21Ah each) in a 48V/44Ah pack (2,112 Wh), with inductive charging and wired emergency charging. The biggest hidden cost is the time of the programming team, because ROS 2 takes skill. Research funding such as grants is a more realistic route here than Poland's robotization tax relief, which applies to industrial robots “Poland's Robotization Tax Relief”. Cameras in spaces shared with people also bring GDPR obligations “Data Security: Robots with Cameras and the GDPR”.

Applications
What it's for
The Franka Mobile FR3 Duo is a research prototype, not an off-the-shelf product, and that is where the story has to start. In its datasheet the manufacturer labels it a "Product Prototype": no IEC 60204 or ISO 13849 certification, not approved for production or safety-critical use. It is not on sale.
What is it? Two Franka Research 3 arms (3 kg payload each) on the holonomic TMR mobile platform, which moves in every direction at up to 1.5 m/s. Together that makes 18 degrees of freedom, 225 kg and a height of 146.1 cm. The brain is an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin (64 GB) with ROS 2 Humble, and the sensors are two Sick NanoScan3 LiDARs and four RealSense D455 cameras around the body NVIDIA Jetson.
What is it for? Research into mobile manipulation, teleoperation and so-called embodied AI, meaning how a model learns to act in the physical world. In teleoperation, the recorded arm trajectories can be used to train models “VLA Models: How AI Controls Humanoid Robots in 2026”. That is the use the platform was built for universities laboratories.
The torque sensor in every arm joint, known from the FR3, lets you guide the arms by hand and teach them by demonstration.
Typical applications
Who it's for
Makes sense for: research teams at universities and institutes working on mobile robotics and machine learning, with a budget for non-commercial hardware and a wish for a ready-made dual-arm platform running ROS 2.
Less suited to: anyone looking for a robot to put to work in a business. The model is not for sale and is not certified. It is not an option for a school or a small workshop either schools; educational models are the better place to look “Educational Robots for Schools and Universities”. For Polish universities there is no confirmed distribution, and the only route is through the manufacturer Franka Robotics.
Deployments
It is a lab prototype that is not sold commercially. In practice, what is available in this category is the Franka FR3 itself and commercial mobile platforms that can be extended with an arm of your own mobile robots. Polish research teams should therefore ask the manufacturer about pilot programs rather than look for an offer in a shop.
Comparison
The closest thing is the Franka Research 3, the research arm on its own, which you can buy separately (roughly USD 25,000-35,000, about PLN 96,900 (≈ EUR 22,200 at NBP rate 4.3641 of 21 October 2026) in our listing) and mount on a platform of your own. If you need a commercially available mobile base, look at the MiR600 (600 kg payload, up to 2 m/s) as a platform for your own arm.
Anyone after a mobile manipulator from an industrial family could consider the KUKA KMP 600P, a KUKA arm on a mobile platform. If your research covers humanoids rather than wheeled platforms, the Unitree G1 is much closer. The manufacturer compares the prototype with the PAL Robotics TIAGo++ and Fraunhofer's dual-arm robots; those models are not in our catalog, so we do not assess them.

History
Franka Robotics is a Munich-based German company founded in 2016, known for arms with torque sensors in the joints. The Mobile FR3 Duo is its prototype combining two Franka Research 3 arms with the Tactile Mobile Robot platform; the datasheet carries the designation R04245. We have no confirmed launch date and no events on record for this model, so we do not spin a generation history Franka Robotics.
