Summary

Elder care and rehabilitation are the main target of the Fourier GR-3, a variant of the GR-2 adapted for safe contact with people. The robot keeps the degrees of freedom of the GR-2 (55, per this model's data) but gains a soft outer shell with 31 built-in pressure sensors and hands with 12 degrees of freedom per side.

It stands 165 cm tall and weighs 71 kg, heavier than the GR-2 despite being shorter, which suggests extra padding and safety elements. It launched in August 2025, and its institutional price was reported to exceed 200,000 yuan according to the aggregator humanoidindex.org. That is not Fourier's official website, so the figure should be treated with caution.

Among the GR series it is the first designed expressly for care facilities, hospitals and private homes, which sets it apart from the more general-purpose GR-1 and GR-2 aimed at research and industry. Strength: a soft, safe shell dedicated to contact with people. Weakness: a poorly documented price, and the official specification was unavailable while we were checking. The model is not sold in Poland.

Running and deployment costs

Purchase: an aggregating source (humanoidindex.org) gives an institutional price of “over 200,000 CNY.” We do not convert it to dollars or zlotys, because it is not Fourier's official site, and that site was unavailable. As an estimate this would mean several hundred thousand zlotys, but treat that purely as an order of magnitude.

Operation and training: the soft shell is a consumable element; it wears out and needs cleaning and disinfection in a care environment. This is our own estimate, as the manufacturer does not give service costs. Training care staff and safety procedures must be budgeted separately; build the total cost using “Humanoid Robot TCO: How to Calculate Total Cost”.

Applications

What it's for

The Fourier GR-3 is a humanoid designed expressly for contact with people; the sources name elder care, rehabilitation and home assistance as its purpose. It stands 165 cm tall, weighs 71 kg (more than the Fourier GR-2 despite being shorter), has 55 degrees of freedom and hands with 12 degrees of freedom per side. The key feature is the soft outer shell with 31 pressure sensors: the robot is meant to sense when someone leans on it.

The scenarios that follow from the sources: elder care, rehabilitation and home assistance. In a hospital (hospitals) it could support rehabilitation specialists during exercises, and at home (homes) help an older person with daily activities. This direction is consistent with the company's roots, which grew out of rehabilitation robotics.

Keep the distinction in mind: this is the announced purpose, and we have no independently confirmed care deployments on record. In a lab (laboratories) the GR-3 would serve research on safe physical contact. It is unlikely to end up in a factory (factories); that is what the Fourier GR-2 is for. Safety rules for working alongside people are explained in “Robot Safety Standards”. Tactile sensors in robot hands often come from specialist suppliers, for example Xela Robotics.

Typical applications

  • Elder care
  • Rehabilitation
  • home assistance

Who it's for

A good fit: rehabilitation and research centers that want to test a humanoid in contact with people; companies developing care services that are ready for a pilot; medical and technical universities studying care robotics.

Who it doesn't: care homes looking for a proven, certified helper today. The price is poorly documented, and no official specification is available. We also don't recommend it to Polish families: the model is not sold in Poland, and the questions of safety, liability and GDPR for a robot with cameras in the home need separate analysis; see “Data Security: Robots with Cameras and the GDPR”.

Deployments

Stated applications: elder care, rehabilitation and home assistance. However, we have no named, confirmed GR-3 deployments either in Poland or worldwide; there are no confirmed deployments in Poland, and the model is unavailable here. For context: care and rehabilitation today are supported mainly by exoskeletons and therapy robots, as covered in “Exoskeletons in Rehabilitation and Industry”.

Comparison

Fourier GR-2: the same level of degrees of freedom but without the soft shell; choose it if you need manipulation research, not contact with people.

1X NEO: a home robot with open pre-orders, about PLN 77,524 (≈ EUR 17,760 at NBP rate 4.3641 of 21 October 2026) on file; it targets the home, not care facilities.

Figure 03: a humanoid with a home-use announcement; with no price or date, it is more something to watch than a purchase option.

Unitree G1: a cheap research humanoid, if what matters most to you is a platform for experiments.

History

The GR-3 is the third generation of the series. The Fourier GR-1 appeared in July 2023, the Fourier GR-2 in September 2024 (53 degrees of freedom), and the company presented the GR-3 in August 2025 as a care humanoid with a soft shell. Sales began in August 2025. This is a turn that follows from the company's history: Fourier started with rehabilitation and exoskeletons (more on that branch in “Exoskeletons in Rehabilitation and Industry”), and in November 2023 launched the MetaMotus Galileo platform.
