Shanghai-based Fourier Intelligence grew out of rehabilitation robotics and exoskeletons and now develops general-purpose humanoids in the GR series: the GR-1, the GR-2 and the newest GR-3, which also targets healthcare and geriatric care. That sets it apart from purely industrial competitors such as EngineAI.

The data comes solely from secondary sources (aggregators and reviews) rather than the manufacturer's materials, which is an important limit on the reliability of this profile. The GR-1 is listed as discontinued, while the GR-2 and GR-3 are listed as available. The company's founding year, funding and headcount are not known. Commercial presence in Poland has not been confirmed.

Its medical pedigree could be an asset if it ever enters eldercare, a segment that is also growing in Central Europe.

History and development

Fourier Intelligence of Shanghai started not with humanoids but in the rehabilitation clinic: for years the company has made exoskeletons and motion-therapy devices. That heritage still shows in its robots. In July 2023 the first humanoid, the GR-1, was presented at the WAIC fair in Shanghai, and in November of that year the company launched the MetaMotus Galileo rehabilitation platform. In December 2023 its management met Xi Jinping during his visit to Shanghai, which shows how high in China's hierarchy this industry ranks. September 2024 brought the GR-2 with 53 degrees of freedom, and August 2025 the GR-3, a care robot with a soft shell and 31 pressure sensors. The GR-1 has been withdrawn from the lineup. The company's founding year, funding and headcount are not publicly confirmed, and the official manufacturer site returned a server error. The data in this profile therefore comes from secondary sources: aggregators and reviews. The concept discussed here is explained in “Degrees of Freedom (DOF) in Humanoid Robots”, and we cover the rehabilitation segment in “Exoskeletons in Rehabilitation and Industry”.

Portfolio

The GR series is three generations of humanoids, each with a different audience. Fourier GR-1 stood 165 cm, weighed 55 kg, had 40 degrees of freedom and walked at up to 1.4 m/s; it was sold on request, mainly to universities and research centers. Its successor, Fourier GR-2, is 175 cm and 63 kg with 53 degrees of freedom, tactile hands with 12 degrees of freedom each and joint torque up to 380 N·m: a research and industrial platform. The newest, Fourier GR-3, is 165 cm, weighs 71 kg and has up to 55 degrees of freedom, and its soft shell with 31 pressure sensors is meant to allow safe contact with people in care facilities, hospitals and homes. Prices are not official: the figure of more than 200,000 yuan circulating for the GR-3 is an aggregator's estimate, not manufacturer data. The whole family belongs to the humanoid robots category, and its care branch also touches the hospital area. Comparing the three generations shows the direction: more degrees of freedom, richer touch and a growing emphasis on contact safety rather than on raw strength. Technical details are worth checking against a datasheet as soon as the manufacturer restores one: “How to Read a Robot Datasheet”.

Market position

Fourier does not compete with Unitree on price or with UBTech on factory scale. It bets on a niche where it has a credibility advantage: care and rehabilitation. According to our roundup of Chinese humanoids, the GR-3 works in more than 300 medical and care facilities in China; the figure comes from secondary sources and needs confirmation. That sets the company apart from the purely industrial EngineAI Robotics and from the factory-focused UBTECH Robotics and AgiBot, with which we compare it in the article “Chinese Humanoid Robots”. Capital and valuation are unknown, so its financial resilience cannot be judged. A weakness is the lack of official prices. A strength is the medical pedigree, useful given Europe's growing demand for senior care. Keep in mind, too, that the business model rests on corporate and institutional contracts with no open price list, and for the GR-2 sources even mention the absence of a sales channel for North America.

Presence in Poland

Fourier's commercial presence in Poland has not been confirmed: we found no official distributor, no Polish offers and no deployments. Buying would require contacting the manufacturer in China or a partner in Western Europe, with added costs for logistics, customs duty and service. For Polish rehabilitation universities and research centers this is, for now, a topic to watch, not an offer to place an order on. The cost of such an import is broken down in “Humanoid Robot TCO: How to Calculate Total Cost”. If a Polish hospital or medical university is considering such a robot, a sensible first step is a conversation with a rehabilitation equipment supplier, not an order from a catalog. We found no official announcements of the company's entry into the Polish market.

Editorial verdict

Fourier is an interesting brand with a medical pedigree and one of the few humanoids designed specifically for care. For the Polish buyer, however, it is unavailable and poorly documented: no official prices, a site that was not working and no distributor. The GR-3 is worth following, but there is no way to buy one for now. Anyone looking for specifics should wait for an official product sheet and price list from the manufacturer or its partner in Europe.
