If you had to pick the "all-rounder" in Doosan Robotics' lineup, it would most often be the M1013: 10 kg payload, 1,300 mm reach, six axes with torque sensors in every joint. The manufacturer describes it as the best-selling model in the M series. That popularity comes from a balance of payload and reach that suits a wide range of jobs: assembly, machine tending, simple packing.

Among its rivals in the 8-12 kg class (Universal Robots UR10e, Fanuc CRX-10iA, Techman TM12), the M1013 looks broadly comparable on paper, though we have no verified specifications for those models to set against it number for number. Its strength is a proven track record (the maker's claim of bestseller status), which usually also means a mature ecosystem of accessories and integrators.

Its weakness, as across the whole Doosan range, is the lack of a published price list; pricing is set individually by the distributor. In Poland the model is offered by Transition Technologies-CS under the coboty-doosan.pl brand. A good choice as a first cobot for a plant with no automation experience, precisely because it is so versatile.

Running and deployment costs

Doosan does not publish a price for the M1013, and the distributor issues the quote, so we have no exact figure. Models in this class whose prices we do know give a reference point: the UR5e costs about PLN 128,000 (≈ EUR 29,330) in our catalog and the UR10e about PLN 160,000 (≈ EUR 36,660) (UR10e). As a rough estimate the M1013 should fall in a similar order of magnitude, but that is only an orientation, not an offer. The robot itself is only part of the spend, though. Roughly speaking, you add a gripper or tool, controls, cell safeguarding, integration with the machine and commissioning; in practice a whole workstation can cost several times as much as the arm alone. Running costs are mainly energy, inspections and any replacement tooling. Operator training on a cobot is short, but plan a few days for the process engineer's rollout. For more on total cost of ownership, see “Humanoid Robot TCO: How to Calculate Total Cost” (the method works for cobots too). Poland's robotization tax relief (ulga na robotyzację) can cover the purchase and training if the robot meets the statute's definition of an industrial robot, as we describe in “Poland's Robotization Tax Relief”; confirm whether a specific model qualifies with a tax adviser.

Applications

What it's for

The Doosan M1013 was built for rhythmic, repetitive work such as opening a machine door, pulling out a finished part and loading a raw blank. The manufacturer lists assembly and machine tending as its main applications, and with a 10 kg payload and 1,300 mm reach the arm can extend deep into a machine's work chamber and still lift a heavier forging or a tray of parts. Six degrees of freedom (“Degrees of Freedom (DOF) in Humanoid Robots”) and a torque sensor in every joint let it work alongside people: the robot senses contact and stops moving. We explain the principles of this kind of collaboration in “What Is a Cobot and How Does It Differ from an Industrial Robot”. In a factory this adds up to three typical scenarios: loading and unloading machines, assembling components (inserting, pressing, fastening) and simple packing at the end of a line. In a warehouse the M1013 can stack cartons of light goods or move parts between stations, but for large pallets its bigger sibling from the same family, Doosan M1509, or the dedicated palletizing model Doosan P3020 will do better. In a laboratory a cobot of this class is sometimes used to move samples, but that is typical of the whole category rather than confirmed for the M1013. Versatility is the main argument here: the same robot can be retooled from tending a lathe to packing by swapping the gripper (example accessory suppliers are Robotiq and OnRobot).

Who it's for

A good fit: a plant taking its first step into automation that wants one robot for several tasks. The manufacturer calls the M1013 the best-selling model in the M series, which usually means a mature ecosystem of accessories and integrators. It works well for companies that have a local partner for support; in Poland that is Transition Technologies-CS under the coboty-doosan.pl brand. It fits where tasks change every few months and building a dedicated automated cell is not worth it.

Who it does not suit: lines that need a payload beyond the 10 kg class; in that case look at the H series, for example Doosan H2515. It is also not the best choice if a public, comparable price is critical: Doosan does not publish one, and the distributor prepares the quote. For work in tight cells, consider the smaller Doosan M0609. For a general overview of the class, see the category “Cobots”.

Deployments

We have no confirmed M1013 installations in Poland that we could name by plant. What is confirmed is the commercial presence: since 2022 the exclusive distributor of Doosan in Poland has been Transition Technologies-Control Solutions (coboty-doosan.pl), which means local support and service. We describe the brand's situation on the Polish market in “Doosan Robotics: Cobots from the Korean Maker in Poland”, and the buying process in the article “How to Buy a Cobot Step by Step”.

Comparison

The 8-12 kg class offers plenty of choice, although what we compare here is market positioning, not verified figures.

UR12e is a direct competitor with the largest ecosystem of software and third-party applications; pick it when a ready-made library of solutions matters. Details are in our comparison with the M1013.

UR10e is a proven model from a similar class, for teams that want to work on the most popular cobot platform.

FANUC CRX-10iA is a cobot from a maker known for industrial robotics; its advantages are reputation and service in factories that already run Fanuc robots.

Techman TM12 is Techman's offering in the same class, worth a look if you plan vision-based quality control at the workstation.

History

Doosan Robotics was founded in 2015 in Suwon, South Korea, as part of the Doosan group, and the company listed on the KOSPI exchange in 2023. The M series is the core of the brand's range: the M0609, M0617, M1013 and M1509 differ in payload and reach, on a shared platform with torque sensors in every joint. The manufacturer names the M1013 as the most popular model in the series. We have no documented launch date for the M1013, so we do not state a debut year. You can read about the company and its models on the page Doosan Robotics.
