The E0509 is a specialized Doosan cobot designed exclusively for the food industry - the manufacturer promotes it as the world's first cobot dedicated to food and beverage (F&B), with a hygienic design suited to washdown and food contact. Its motion specs match the base A0509: 900 mm reach and 5 kg payload, with six joints fitted with torque sensors for safe collaboration with an operator.
The difference from the industrial model therefore lies not in the mechanics but in materials and a finish resistant to the cleaning procedures typical of food lines. In Poland distribution is handled by Transition Technologies-CS under the coboty-doosan.pl brand, as with all other Doosan models. No list price is published.
For packing and food-processing lines looking for a cobot with a declared hygienic design, the E0509 is a natural candidate - provided you verify the IP and material certificates directly with the distributor before purchase.

Running and deployment costs
The manufacturer does not publish a list price for the E0509; quotes come from the distributor, Transition Technologies-CS, on request. The hygienic version probably costs more than the standard one, but exactly how much we do not know and will not guess.
For an order of magnitude, as an estimate: the arm of a 5 kg cobot alone is usually several tens of thousands of euros. In food production, though, there are costs that are easy to forget: a gripper approved for food contact, washable guards and components, hygiene documentation and validation at the customer or auditor. Integration and commissioning can absorb as much as the arm itself - that is a warning, not an offer.
Running costs: energy is low, but servicing and replacing seals in a washdown environment must be planned. Add operator training right away.
Poland's robotization tax relief (ulga na robotyzację) allows a deduction of up to 50% of eligible costs; under current rules 2026 is the last year, and on 29 September 2026 the Council of Ministers adopted a draft act extending the relief by another 10 tax years. Details in “Poland's Robotization Tax Relief”. Purchase plan: “How to Buy a Cobot Step by Step”.

Applications
What it's for
A cobot for the food industry has to withstand having the line washed with water and cleaning agents. An ordinary cobot with open gaps and non-resistant paint is not suited to that. That is why the Doosan E0509 is an interesting case: Doosan Robotics promotes it as the world's first cobot dedicated exclusively to the food and beverage (F&B) industry, with a hygienic design suited to washing and food contact. According to the manufacturer's site it has an IP66 ingress rating and certification from the US organization NSF.
Its motion parameters are the same as the base A0509: 900 mm reach and 5 kg payload, six joints with torque sensors. One application is listed: food processing. In this role it suits placing products into packaging, feeding ingredients into a machine, moving trays and running a packing station. The biggest difference from the A0509 therefore lies not in the mechanics but in finish and materials. For a line where the arm is to be washed regularly, that difference is what makes the purchase worthwhile. Outside food, similar resistance is sometimes desirable in a laboratory, but the manufacturer does not promise it, so treat it as a question for the distributor, not as fact.
In a food-focused factories the cobot takes over monotonous movements and relieves people of repetitive tasks, as we describe in general in “What Is a Cobot and How Does It Differ from an Industrial Robot”.
Typical applications
Who it's for
Best suited to: food plants that want to automate packing, arranging or feeding and have hygiene procedures that require washing down equipment. A sensible choice when end customers or auditors ask about equipment certificates in the production zone.
Who it doesn't: plants without hygiene requirements, which would pay extra for features they will not use - for ordinary assembly the A0509 or another model without a dedicated food design is enough. Nor is it a robot for heavy parts: a 5 kg payload including the gripper is a modest margin, so for larger products look at the M series.
The basic rule: check the IP and material certificates with the distributor against the document for your specific version before you sign the order. The confirmation we have comes from the manufacturer's official web page, not from a datasheet, and discrepancies between sources happen. Tips on reading such documents are in “How to Read a Robot Datasheet”.
Deployments
No confirmed deployments in Poland, and no international references for this model either.
What can be backed by sources at category level: according to the article “Doosan Robotics: Cobots from the Korean Maker in Poland”, Doosan cobots go to the Polish food industry alongside automotive and electronics, for packing and palletizing tasks. That is a general picture of the market, not confirmation of an E0509 working in a specific plant.
If you are considering a purchase for a food plant, ask the distributor for F&B references and for documents confirming IP66 and NSF. Ask similar questions about the Doosan A0509 and other comparison arms.
Comparison
The base Doosan A0509 has the same 900 mm and 5 kg, weighs 21 kg, draws 370 W and specifies ±0.03 mm. If your line does not require washdown and food certificates, it is the simpler route within the same family.
The UR5e from Universal Robots has a 5 kg payload, 850 mm reach and a force sensor at the flange, and in Poland it has a wide accessory ecosystem. We do not, however, list it as food-grade equipment - check the ingress rating separately.
The FANUC CRX-5iA offers a similar payload class and a brand widely known in industry. Here too, ask about a hygienic version if that matters to you.
The ABB GoFa CRB 15000 delivers a 5 kg payload from one of the biggest players in robotics and is an option for those who want a single brand throughout the plant.
We compare the Doosan family in “Doosan Robotics: Cobots from the Korean Maker in Poland”.

History
Doosan Robotics was founded in 2015 in Suwon as a company of the Doosan group, and since 2023 it has been listed on the KOSPI exchange. The E series is one of five cobot lines, alongside A, M, H and P, and the only one clearly set aside for the food industry.
Structurally the E0509 derives from the platform of the base A0509, with which it shares reach and payload. It differs in finish and application. We have no launch date for the E0509, so we do not give one.
In Poland the whole family is available thanks to Transition Technologies-Control Solutions (coboty-doosan.pl). Sources give different start years for distribution, 2021 or 2022. Broader market background is in the category “Cobots” and in “What Is a Cobot and How Does It Differ from an Industrial Robot”.
