DEEP Robotics (Hangzhou Deep Robotics Co., Ltd.) is a Chinese company based in Hangzhou, active since 2017 and focused exclusively on quadruped robots for industrial and research use. Its portfolio includes the Lite3, X20 and X30 models and the Lynx series, designed for autonomous inspection in difficult, GPS-denied environments such as power plants, tunnels and mines.

Against Boston Dynamics (Spot) and China's Unitree, DEEP Robotics positions itself as an industrial specialist priced below the American competitor, with comparable all-terrain resilience. The manufacturer does not disclose funding or headcount, and a commercial presence in Poland is not confirmed. The segment suits energy and mining applications well, and simple demonstration or educational uses less so.

History and development

Hangzhou Deep Robotics (杭州云深处科技 in Chinese) was founded in 2017 in Hangzhou and has worked on one type of machine from the start: quadrupeds built for places where people are in danger or simply don't fit. The portfolio grew from small research platforms like the Lite3, through the industrial IP67-rated X30, to the wheeled-legged hybrid Lynx, unveiled in 2024. The family also includes the DR01, the first humanoid from a maker of quadrupeds, with a speed of 1.6 m/s but no other disclosed specifications. There is no information on funding rounds, valuation or headcount, and the only dates we can state with certainty are the founding year and the year Lynx was unveiled. We are not inventing milestones: it is better to say the manufacturer does not disclose them than to repeat forum rumors. For the reader the takeaway is simple: DEEP Robotics is a specialist, not a company that does everything, and this shows clearly in a lineup where every quadruped has its own purpose, from research to inspection in difficult terrain.

Portfolio

Four models describe four different roles. DEEP Robotics Lite3 is an educational and research quadruped: 12 kg, 40.6 cm tall, 12 degrees of freedom, a 5 kg payload, 2 hours of runtime, ROS2 and a price from about USD 2,890. At the other extreme stands DEEP Robotics X30, an industrial machine rated IP67, 47 cm tall and 56 kg, built for inspecting power plants, tunnels and mines, priced at about USD 65,000 from a reseller. Between them sits DEEP Robotics Lynx (Lynx M20 Pro): a wheeled-legged hybrid, 35 kg, 16 degrees of freedom, a 15 kg payload, 3 hours of runtime, up to 5 m/s, from about USD 17,999. Outside the series is DEEP Robotics DR01, a humanoid of which the manufacturer discloses only a speed of 1.6 m/s. We cover the quadruped category more broadly in quadruped robots and in the article “Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry”, and the market benchmark, Spot, in “Boston Dynamics Spot: Price, Uses and Availability in Poland”. Applications: “Robots in Security and Inspection: Quadrupeds on Patrol” and construction sites. The difference in scale is worth noting: the Lite3 weighs about as much as a large, fully packed hiking backpack, while the X30 is a machine you lift with a crane or with two people. The first fits on a desk and in a lab room; the second needs transport and operator training.

Market position

The industrial quadruped segment has a few recognizable players, and DEEP Robotics is one of them. On one side stands Boston Dynamics with Spot, the benchmark but far more expensive. On the other is Unitree Robotics, which targets the mass market and education. DEEP Robotics has chosen the middle: industrial all-terrain resilience at a price below the Americans'. A third rival in inspection is Switzerland's ANYbotics. The manufacturer does not disclose funding or headcount, and we don't know its customer list either, so we cannot judge the scale of its sales. It is worth knowing that the price of the X30 is quoted by a reseller, not the manufacturer, so it is only indicative. The quadruped market in practice is described in “Unitree Go2 Review: Prices and the Air, Pro, X and EDU Versions”. Compared with its competitors, DEEP Robotics is narrowly specialized: it does not try to sell humanoids at mass scale or home robots, only machines for inspection and research. That focus makes it easier to build a credible offering for the energy sector, but limits the number of buyers.

Presence in Poland

The Lite3, X30 and Lynx models are available in Poland through the deltarobots.com store. It is a robot retailer, not an official representative of the manufacturer, which is worth remembering when asking about service and warranty. We confirm its presence only from the seller's own website; the manufacturer names no Polish partner on its site. We have no documented deployments in Poland, whether at universities or energy companies using these robots. For universities, the Lite3 with ROS2 is a candidate for the lab; a comparison with other teaching platforms can be found in educational robots. For the energy sector, where the X30 would work, the right questions are in “How to Buy a Cobot Step by Step”, since the purchasing steps are analogous.

Editorial verdict

DEEP Robotics is a serious alternative to Spot for inspection tasks, and the Lite3 is a cheap introduction to quadruped robotics with ROS2. On the plus side is availability in Poland through a store; on the minus side, the lack of an official representative and of funding data. Recommendation: a good candidate for a trial in the energy sector or in a lab, but service must be settled before purchase. A comparison with other quadrupeds: quadruped robots. The X30's price of about USD 65,000 calls for caution: pilot first, fleet later.
