XPeng Robotics is the robotics arm of the Chinese electric-vehicle maker XPeng Motors of Guangzhou, listed on the NYSE and in Hong Kong. The company is developing the Iron humanoid, its only known model: 178 cm tall, prototype status, with no price or payload given.

XPeng has announced a goal of large-scale production of advanced humanoids by the end of 2026, after which a commercial price list is to be set; until then Iron remains a pre-commercial product, much like Tesla's Optimus, though without the financial backing of a comparable automotive group.

XPeng's strength is its parent company's experience in series production of electric vehicles, which could translate into faster scaling of robot production than at pure-play robotics startups. Its weakness is the continued absence of any verified technical parameters beyond height. The robot is not available in Poland.

History and development

The year the unit was set up, its headcount and the robotics website are not publicly confirmed, so we do not state them. What is certain are the events of recent weeks. On 24 August 2026 XPeng's robotics unit Dogotix raised more than $900 million in its first funding round at a post-money valuation above $6.3 billion, with IDG Capital leading the round. In September 2026 the company commissioned an automated humanoid production line in Guangzhou on which more than 80% of processes are automated, and the IRON robot drove off the line under its own power. XPeng announces mass production by the end of 2026. This shows the strategy: robotics is meant to draw on the parent company's experience in series vehicle production, which sets it apart from purely robotics startups. The market XPeng wants to enter is covered in “Humanoid Robot Market Forecasts”. The remaining chapters of the story are still being written.

Portfolio

The only known model is XPeng IRON. IRON stands 178 cm tall, has 62 active joints giving more than 200 degrees of freedom, and each hand has 22 degrees of freedom, a topic covered generally in “Degrees of Freedom (DOF) in Humanoid Robots”. The maker claims the hands can handle both an egg and a large carton, but that precision has not been independently verified. The whole body is covered in a soft skin with touch sensors, and the vision system's field of view reaches 720°. Three Turing AI chips give a combined 2,250 to 3,000 TOPS and run the XPeng VLA 2.0 model, a kind of model discussed in “VLA Models: How AI Controls Humanoid Robots in 2026”. IRON is described as the first humanoid with a fully solid-state battery. Its status is prototype, and the uses the source gives are for now demonstrations and development, aimed at industrial and research partners, so potentially factories. There is no price. An unconfirmed rumour mentions about $150,000, but we do not treat it as fact. It should also be remembered that the listed parameters come from the maker's material and trade descriptions, and their independent verification still lies ahead. A count of degrees of freedom alone does not settle how useful a robot is.

Market position

XPeng announces mass production by the end of 2026 and will set a price list only then. Until that point IRON is a pre-commercial product, like Optimus from Tesla, although XPeng has the backing of an automotive group, and Dogotix has raised more than $900 million. The Tesla Optimus Gen 3, described in “Tesla Optimus: What We Actually Know (as of September 2026)”, is the closest point of reference in terms of scale. Also in play are Unitree H1 from Unitree Robotics, Figure 02 from Figure AI and designs from UBTECH Robotics, which use conventional lithium-ion cells while IRON has a solid-state battery. The strength is experience in series production, which may speed up scaling. The weakness is the lack of verified parameters, price and payload. The position depends on whether the mass-production claims come true. For a reader assessing the market, the first real deliveries and a price list will matter more than figures from presentations.

Presence in Poland

In Poland, XPeng IRON is unavailable, because the robot remains a prototype and cannot be bought anywhere in the world. We know of no distributor, representative or deployments at Polish companies. Polish integrators looking for a humanoid for industrial use should instead check what is on sale, using the overview in “Humanoid Robots in Factories 2026”. Any Polish distribution will be worth checking once a price list is announced. Until there is a price or sales, there is also no question of service, training or integration in Poland. All that is known is that the target customers are meant to be industrial and research partners, not retail buyers.

Editorial verdict

IRON is an ambitious prototype with an impressive specification, solid financial backing and mass production promised by the end of 2026. Independent verification and a price are still missing. Unavailable in Poland. Worth following closely, nothing to order. Only a price announcement and first deliveries will show whether the company turns announcements into a product. Until then it is one of the more interesting announcements from the Chinese industry.
