Summary

Unlike many humanoids designed around walking, the S1 from Shenzhen-based Stardust Intelligence bets on manipulation - the tips of its two seven-degree-of-freedom arms reach speeds of up to 10 m/s with a repeatability of about ±0.1 mm, placing it at the top of its category for speed and grasp precision.

At 170 cm and 80 kg, the robot has 23 degrees of freedom (14 of them in the hands) and lifts up to 5 kg, controlled through whole-body imitation learning. The price is not public - English-language sources give a range of USD 96,000-150,000 for early commercial deployments, while Chinese sources mention about CNY 500,000 for a research edition; these figures have not been confirmed by the manufacturer and we treat them as indicative.

The S1 goes mainly to manipulation labs and demonstrations, not to retail buyers. The robot is not offered in Poland, and the manufacturer names no plans for expansion into the European market. It is a proposition for research centers interested in precise manipulation, not for companies looking for a ready-made production solution.

Price and availability in Poland

approx. 476,800 PLN* (≈ EUR 109,260) converted from 123,000 USD, NBP rate 3.8762, as of 1 October 2026 · Updated: September 2026 · Source (blog.robozaps.com)

Price range of USD 96,000-150,000 for early commercial deployments; the midpoint is shown. Chinese sources give about CNY 500,000 for a research edition. Available on request only.

Running and deployment costs

The purchase price is not public. According to English-language sources, early commercial deployments cost USD 96,000-150,000; we show the midpoint of USD 123,000, or about PLN 476,770 (≈ EUR 109,250) at the rate of 3.8762 from 1 October 2026. Chinese sources mention about CNY 500,000 for a research edition. The manufacturer does not confirm these numbers, so treat them as starting brackets for a conversation.

On top of the robot's price come costs nobody lists on the website. As an estimate: shipping and customs clearance (a few percent of value), 23% VAT (deductible for a business), service and warranty handled from China, and training data. With imitation learning, that is above all the time of the people demonstrating the tasks.

Operation: electricity cost is negligible - the robot runs about 5 hours on a battery. The real cost is staff: as an estimate, part of a full-time position for someone versed in robotics, plus a fenced-off workspace.

For universities, grants and research projects are a more realistic source.

Applications

What it's for

The Astribot S1 is not a robot meant to impress with its gait. Its strength is two seven-degree-of-freedom arms whose tips, by the manufacturer's claim, move at up to 10 m/s with a repeatability of about ±0.1 mm. These are top-tier figures for manipulation robots, packed into a 170 cm, 80 kg body with 23 degrees of freedom (DOF), 14 of them in the hands.

The sources name manipulation research and demonstrations as the core area of use. The S1 learns tasks from demonstrations using whole-body imitation learning, so each movement does not have to be programmed separately.

Limitations: the S1 is not a ready-made shop-floor worker. Payload is 5 kg, runtime about 5 hours (the manufacturer says 4-6), and the robot has cameras and LiDAR, which is enough to find its way around a lab but does not replace a certified safety system. There are no confirmed uses in catering, hotels or retail; the sources point only to research and demonstration settings.

Typical applications

  • Manipulation research
  • Demonstrations

Who it's for

Worth considering for: research centers working on manipulation and robot machine learning, laboratories at technical universities with project budgets in the hundreds of thousands of zloty, innovation departments at large companies that want to judge the state of humanoid manipulation first-hand, and organizers of technology events who want a "wow" effect (though renting will be more sensible than buying here).

Probably not for: small and mid-sized companies looking for a robot for a specific production line. For an amount comparable to the S1's price, you could consider several collaborative robots, which are designed for repetitive industrial tasks and have documented safety certification. Nor is it a product for schools or hobbyists: there is no distributor in Poland, the price is not public and purchase is by request.

A simple test: if you can describe in one sentence the study for which you need a two-armed, high-speed humanoid, the S1 may be for you. If you talk about "increasing shop-floor productivity," look elsewhere.

Deployments

The manufacturer has no distributor or commercial presence here and names no plans to enter the European market. We also found no publicly described, named S1 deployments worldwide: the sources speak in general terms of manipulation labs and demonstrations.

Humanoids in Poland appear mainly as university and demonstration platforms, while the first industrial pilots abroad involve models such as Agility Digit in logistics. We describe what such deployments look like in “Agility Digit in Warehouses” and “Humanoid Robots in Factories 2026”.

Comparison

If you want a humanoid for research but your budget is clearly lower, look at Unitree G1. It is one of the cheapest full-size humanoids (132 cm, 23 DOF, about PLN 52,300 (≈ EUR 11,980)) and its ecosystem is much better documented. Its manipulation, however, is less ambitious than Astribot's.

If the emphasis is on arms and tabletop work, consider Reachy 2 - a mobile research torso with 7-DOF arms, ROS 2 and LeRobot integration. It costs about USD 70,000, so it is cheaper than the S1, and open software is its strong suit.

Anyone who wants a full humanoid with more power in reserve might consider Unitree H2 (180 cm, 70 kg, 31 DOF, about PLN 115,900 (≈ EUR 26,560)), though some of its technical data remains unconfirmed. Meanwhile Fourier GR-1 has been withdrawn and replaced by successors, so for a new purchase look at Fourier GR-3 instead.

History

The Astribot S1 comes from Stardust Intelligence (the Astribot brand) of Shenzhen. No founding year for the company or launch date for the robot has been published, so we do not give them. What we do know is how the S1 is positioned: as a manipulation humanoid that prioritizes arm speed and precision over dynamic walking.

The manufacturer has not published a list of generations or versions, and independent descriptions come mainly from reviews on industry sites, not from official datasheets. The company also discloses neither headcount nor funding.

An important point on the timeline: the model is today described as available on request only, with early commercial deployments priced at USD 96,000-150,000. For a buyer, that means a product at the early-commercialization stage, not mass sales.
