Apptronik, a spin-off of the University of Texas at Austin founded in 2016, stands out for the modular design of its Apollo humanoid: the robot can work stationary, on a wheeled base or fully bipedal, depending on the customer's use.
This approach has produced concrete commercial pilots with Mercedes-Benz (manufacturing), GXO Logistics (warehouses and 3PL) and Jabil, that is, with partners from real industry, not just technology demos. In February 2026 the company raised $520 million at a $5 billion valuation, which places it in the front rank of American humanoid makers alongside Figure and Agility Robotics.
Apollo remains at the pilot stage, with no disclosed list price and no commercial presence in Poland; for local industry it is, for now, a subject to watch, not to buy.
History and development
Apptronik is a spin-off of the University of Texas at Austin, founded in 2016 and based in Austin, Texas. It stands out for the modular design of its Apollo humanoid: the robot can work stationary, on a wheeled base or fully bipedal, depending on the customer's use. Apollo was unveiled in August 2023 and was placed straight into industrial scenarios, not stage shows. This approach has produced concrete commercial pilots: with Mercedes-Benz in manufacturing, with GXO Logistics in warehouses and 3PL, and with Jabil in a plant and warehouse setting. In September 2026 an extension of the Series A-X round was announced, bringing total Series A funding above $935 million and total capital raised close to $1 billion; the funds are meant to support scaling up Apollo production. We write about the partnership with Mercedes in “Apptronik Apollo in Mercedes-Benz Factories”, and about the market in “Humanoid Robot Market Forecasts”.
Portfolio
Apptronik's portfolio is one robot: Apptronik Apollo. The humanoid, with a 25 kg payload, was unveiled in August 2023 and is aimed at industry and logistics. Status: pilot. A public list price has not been disclosed, and the weight and other parameters are not filled in for us. The named uses are a pilot at Mercedes-Benz production plants, an evaluation at a GXO Logistics distribution center, and work at a Jabil plant and warehouse. A 25 kg payload is high next to many humanoids: for comparison, the Agility Digit 5 targets carrying totes in a warehouse, and the Unitree G1 is a lighter research platform. The modular model means the same robot can appear in a wheeled configuration, much like what Addverb announces with the Addverb Elixis-W. See also the comparison with the Figure 03 and the Atlas. The category is described in the humanoid robots section, and the uses on the factory and warehouses pages. For cost calculations, use “Humanoid Robot TCO: How to Calculate Total Cost”. Keep in mind that the list of uses describes pilots and evaluations, not series deployments, so the robot's capabilities in everyday shift work remain to be confirmed.
Market position
Financially, Apptronik is in the very top group: $520 million in February 2026 at a $5 billion valuation, plus a round extension in September 2026 after which total Series A funding exceeds $935 million. We do not know what revenue looks like, because the company does not disclose it. The pilot customers are Mercedes-Benz, GXO Logistics and Jabil; the names come from company announcements and the press, not from sales contracts, so they should not be read as series orders. The main competitors are Figure AI, Agility Robotics and Tesla with Optimus, and in the research and education segment also Unitree Robotics and Boston Dynamics. Among the differences in Apptronik's favor, modularity and a focus on industrial partners are mentioned most often, and against it, the lack of a public price and of series production. You can read more about the rivalry in warehouses in “Agility Digit in Warehouses”.
Presence in Poland
In Poland, Apptronik has no commercial presence: no distributor, no Polish pilot, no price in zloty. For local industry it is, for now, a subject to watch, not to buy. Since Mercedes-Benz is testing Apollo at its plants, some of the knowledge may in time reach European automotive factories, but we cannot confirm any deployment in Poland. Practical preparation for such deployments is described in “Humanoid Robots in Factories 2026”. If your company works with Mercedes or a large logistics operator, it is worth asking whether it plans humanoid pilots at its European sites.
Editorial verdict
Apollo is one of the most seriously funded industrial humanoids, with real pilots at Mercedes, GXO and Jabil. For Polish industry it is, today, something to watch, not to buy: no price, no distributor and no series production. If you work in logistics or automotive, follow the company's further announcements. For decision makers: put Apptronik on a watch list and come back when a price list or the first series deployments appear. Until then, what remains for Polish companies is cost analysis and preparing the plant for a pilot, which we cover in our material on robots in factories.
