The UR30 is the heaviest-lifting cobot in Universal Robots' current range: 30 kg as standard, extendable to 35 kg under limited boundary conditions. It weighs 63.5 kg, has a reach of 1,300 mm and a repeatability of ±0.01 mm, which places it in the segment of cobots meant for palletizing, machine tending and heavier pick&place.

Compared with the smaller UR20 (20 kg payload, introduced a year earlier), the UR30 offers clearly higher load capacity at the cost of greater dead weight; the choice depends on whether a plant really needs 30 kg or whether 20 kg with a lighter build is enough. Like the rest of the series, the UR30 is fitted with a force/torque sensor at the tool flange instead of distributed sensors in the joints.

Universal Robots does not publish a price for the UR30; distributors in Poland (elmark.com.pl) offer individual quotes depending on configuration and gripper. The maximum linear speed of the tool tip (TCP) is 4 m/s according to the official datasheet; the height of the robot, however, is not publicly stated.

The UR30 is aimed at medium and large industrial plants with tasks that demand a high payload while keeping collaboration with the operator without a safety cage.

Running and deployment costs

The UR30 has no public price; distributors in Poland (elmark.com.pl) offer quotes depending on configuration and gripper. The only hard numbers we have concern the smaller UR models: the UR5e at 127,611.00 PLN (≈ EUR 29,240) and the UR10e at 159,645.00 PLN (≈ EUR 36,580). As a rough estimate the UR30, as the largest in the family, costs clearly more than the UR10e, though that is only our assessment.

At 30 kg the biggest part of the budget often goes to accessories: a powerful gripper, a reinforced base or cart, a work pallet and safeguards. As a rough estimate a whole workstation can cost several times the arm. In operation what counts is service, gripper replacement and electricity, none of which is a dominant cost. Training of the operator and maintenance staff takes a few days. Poland's robotization tax relief (ulga na robotyzację) allows an additional deduction of 50% of eligible costs covering the robot, accessories and training; the provision covers expenses from 2022 to 2026, so before investing check what happens after 2026.

Applications

What it's for

The UR30 is the heaviest-lifting cobot in Universal Robots' current range: 30 kg as standard, up to 35 kg under limited boundary conditions. It weighs 63.5 kg, has a 1,300 mm reach, a repeatability of ±0.01 mm and, according to the official datasheet, a linear tool-tip (TCP) speed of 4 m/s. It has six degrees of freedom and a force/torque sensor at the tip. The manufacturer does not publicly state the robot's height.

Typical applications are palletizing, machine tending and heavier pick-and-place. With a 30 kg payload (up to 35 kg under limited conditions) the robot lifts the load together with a heavy gripper and can work without a safety cage if the risk analysis confirms that.

In machine tending the UR30 suits large forgings and castings loaded into a press or a machining center. A repeatability of ±0.01 mm means that after a part change the robot lands in the same place, which matters for precise loading. In palletizing heavy cartons and crates it can handle more layers without additional hoists.

For applications on a construction site or in prefabrication, remember that 63.5 kg of dead weight requires a solid, stable base.

  • Palletizing
  • Machine tending

Who it's for

The UR30 is for plants with truly heavy loads that want to stay with cobots: palletizing heavy packaging, tending large machines, moving castings. It makes sense where the load today weighs more than 20 kg, because below that threshold the UR20 is the cheaper and lighter choice.

It is not for companies that need top speed: 4 m/s is a good but not record value, and the record holder in the family is the UR15. Nor is it for small workshops with light parts. The weak point remains the lack of a public price, because a workstation with a heavy gripper is always an integrator project. The choice is practically dictated by the weight of the part rather than brand preference: you can see that in the comparison with the ABB GoFa, which carries 5 kg.

Deployments

We know only that the robot is commercially available through elmark.com.pl.

Heavy cobots for palletizing are also chosen in Poland by FANUC customers (CRX-30iA, spawalnictwo.pl) and Doosan (H series, coboty-doosan.pl). A list of plants that have described their robots is in the section on robots in Poland.

Comparison

Within the UR family the closest is the UR20: 20 kg and a 1,750 mm reach at practically the same dead weight. The choice depends on whether you truly need 30 kg. The UR16e makes sense at 12 to 16 kg, and the UR15 for fast palletizing of lighter loads.

Outside UR: the FANUC CRX-30iA is the flagship cobot of the CRX series with a 30 kg payload and a 1,756 mm reach for heavy palletizing (spawalnictwo.pl). The Doosan H2515 carries 25 kg and is handled in Poland by coboty-doosan.pl. The Techman TM25S gives 25 kg, a 1,902 mm reach and 5.2 m/s. The Techman TM30S is announced at up to 35 kg, but the data need verifying with the distributor. Prices are on request everywhere.

History

The UR30 was introduced in 2023, a year after the UR20, and immediately became Universal Robots' flagship arm in terms of payload. The subsequent rungs of the family are the UR16e (2019), the UR20 (2022, on sale from 2023) and, in May 2025, the UR7e, UR12e and UR15. The Odense company, founded in 2005, expanded its offer over the years from light arms to machines that rival small industrial robots.

The strategy was consistent: raise the payload step by step without losing compactness and the principle of working with people. The UR30 is its endpoint so far, and its superiority over the UR20 comes from load capacity, not from a new philosophy.
