The Doosan M0617 shares its 6 kg payload with the smaller M0609 but differs drastically in reach - 1,700 mm, nearly double the compact M0609 (900 mm) from the same family. That makes it a specialized tool for tasks where the robot must reach over obstacles or serve a wide pick-and-place station without repositioning its base.

Six degrees of freedom and torque sensors in every joint are standard across the M series. In the segment of long-reach, low-payload cobots, comparable offers come from Universal Robots (the UR10e is positioned closest) and the Techman TM12 - but no verified data on these competitors are available, so the comparison remains qualitative.

The M0617's advantage is the combination of a long arm with a compact base and the shared Doosan programming platform. The drawbacks are the limited 6 kg payload, which rules out heavier parts despite the large reach, and the lack of a public price; the manufacturer does not disclose a price list. In Poland it is available through Transition Technologies-CS (coboty-doosan.pl).

A solution for plants with wide assembly stations where reach matters and the parts handled are light.

Running and deployment costs

The M0617 has no open price; the manufacturer does not publish a price list, and the distributor quotes on request. There is no figure that we could honestly give.

For an order of magnitude, as an estimate: a cobot with a long arm and light payload is several tens of thousands of euros for the arm with controller, and a complete station with a gripper (for example Robotiq), a table, guarding resulting from the risk assessment and integration costs many times more. A longer arm also often requires a larger or better-anchored station, so think about the base.

Running costs: energy, servicing and joint inspections; with work at full reach it is worth asking about the inspection intensity. Include operator and programmer training in the offer; the common Doosan platform shortens it for later models.

Poland's robotization tax relief (ulga na robotyzację): an additional deduction of up to 50% of eligible costs; under current rules 2026 is the last year, and an extension to 2036 has been announced by the Ministry of Finance. How the relief works is explained in “Poland's Robotization Tax Relief”. A practical plan: “How to Buy a Cobot Step by Step”.

Applications

What it's for

A large, open station where the robot must pick parts up on one side and set them down far on the other, often over obstacles: a belt, a fence or a bin. An ordinary cobot with a meter of reach struggles here, and a caged robot is overkill. The Doosan M0617 answers such a layout: a 6 kg payload, like the compact Doosan M0609, but 1,700 mm of reach - almost twice the 900 mm of its sibling from the same series.

One main application is listed: pick-and-place, for tasks described as long reach and light load. In a factory (factory) that means, for example, a sorting or packing station where the robot reaches for light parts at a distant feeder and drops them into a carton on the other side of the table, without repositioning its base. Or tending two machines standing side by side, both within reach of one arm without a track.

Six degrees of freedom and torque sensors in each joint are standard across the M series, so the M0617 can work next to people, given a proper risk assessment per “Robot Safety Standards”.

Keep in mind that reach comes at a price: the longer the arm, the greater the moment at the base and the less payload at extreme positions. The nominal 6 kg usually applies to a near position; check the load curve with the distributor. Conceptual background: “Degrees of Freedom (DOF) in Humanoid Robots”.

Who it's for

A good fit: plants with extensive stations and light parts that benefit from one long arm instead of two short ones. It fits companies that want to stay on the Doosan platform, with the local distributor Transition Technologies-CS (coboty-doosan.pl).

Who it doesn't: heavy tasks - 6 kg is a limit that reach will not compensate for. We also do not recommend it where the repeatability of precise assembly matters: a long arm inherently holds accuracy worse at the tip. In tight stations it will be too big, and the M0609 is the better choice.

Without a price it is hard to judge cost-effectiveness. Collect quotes and compare with models of 1,300 mm reach, like the Doosan M1013; sometimes 1,300 mm and 10 kg of payload give more for the same money. Tips on interpreting the data: “How to Read a Robot Datasheet”.

Deployments

No confirmed deployments in Poland, and no international references on record either.

At category level what is confirmed is that Doosan cobots work in Poland in automotive, electronics and food processing, on assembly, CNC tending, packing and palletizing, according to the article “Doosan Robotics: Cobots from the Korean Maker in Poland”. Competitors also offer long-arm, light-payload cobots, among them the UR10e and the Techman TM12. That is a picture of the market, not an M0617 reference.

If the 1,700 mm reach is key for you, ask the distributor for a demonstration in your own station layout, including a measurement of the real load at extreme positions.

Comparison

The Doosan M0609 has the same payload at 900 mm reach. If the station is small, it is the simpler and lighter choice from the same family.

The Doosan M1013 offers 10 kg and 1,300 mm reach; the manufacturer describes it as the best-selling model in the M series. Less reach than the M0617, more payload.

The UR10e from Universal Robots delivers 12.5 kg and 1,300 mm, with a force sensor at the flange and the widest accessory ecosystem.

The Techman TM12, with 12 kg and 1,300 mm, stands out with built-in 2D vision, useful for sorting.

If the reach is to approach 1,750 mm, take a look at the UR20 (20 kg, 1,750 mm reach), though it is a much heavier and bulkier design. The Doosan family is collected in “Doosan Robotics: Cobots from the Korean Maker in Poland”.

History

Doosan Robotics was founded in 2015 in Suwon as part of the Doosan group; in 2023 the company listed on the KOSPI exchange. It has five cobot series: A, E, M, H and P for palletizing.

The M0617 belongs to the M (Masterpiece) series and is its longest-reach variant. We have no launch date and do not guess one.

In Poland the brand is represented by Transition Technologies-Control Solutions (coboty-doosan.pl); sources differ on the year distribution began, 2021 or 2022. Market background: cobots and “What Is a Cobot and How Does It Differ from an Industrial Robot”.
