The TM5-900 differs from the base TM5-700 by a single trade-off: a longer reach (900 mm) at the cost of a lower payload (4 kg instead of 6 kg). It is a typical choice for pick&place applications where reaching a farther point on the workstation matters and the items being moved are light, for example small electronic components or packaging.
As in the other TM models, the robot has a factory-built 2D vision system in the tip of the arm, which remains the main distinguishing feature of the whole Techman series against competing cobots from Universal Robots or Doosan, where the camera is usually an extra option. The publicly available datasheet comes from the partner Omron, not directly from Techman.
The manufacturer does not publish a list price; in Poland you can get a quote from the distributor TFM Robotics. The TM5-900 is an offer for lines where the workstation geometry needs more reach than the TM5-700 provides, but the load stays small. When choosing between these two variants, it is exactly this reach-versus-payload trade-off that decides, not the price, which remains unknown for both models.

Running and deployment costs
The price of the TM5-900 is not public. The manufacturer does not publish it, and you have to ask TFM Robotics for an offer. Reference points are the UR5e (around PLN 128,000 (≈ EUR 29,330 at NBP rate 4.3641 of 21 October 2026)) and the ABB GoFa CRB 15000 (around PLN 148,000 (≈ EUR 33,910)); the TM5-900 will, as a rough estimate, fall in a similar range, which is an order of magnitude from comparing models, not an offer.
To the arm price add the gripper, tooling, base and integration; the deployment cost is about twice the arm (rough estimate). The built-in camera saves buying a separate vision system. Running costs: electricity, inspection, gripper replacement; TMflow training takes a few days (rough estimate). You can also check Poland's robotization tax relief (ulga na robotyzację), see “Poland's Robotization Tax Relief”: an additional 50% deduction in 2022–2026, as well as the purchase plan in “How to Buy a Cobot Step by Step”.

Applications
What it's for
A longer reach helps where the trays of parts sit farther from the robot base; the TM5-900 is intended for layouts like that.
The manufacturer points above all to pick&place. The 2D camera on the tip of the arm recognizes the components and helps with the grip, and the longer arm covers a wider workstation than the TM5-700.
As in other Techman models, the built-in camera means you do not buy a separate vision system. That sets the series apart from competitors where the camera is often an extra option. Good applications are sorting small items, loading trays, packing light products, camera-based quality inspection and running inspection stations (factories, laboratories). Just remember that 4 kg is the payload including the gripper, so with a heavy gripper little is left for the part.
If your parts are heavier than 4 kg, move to the Techman TM5-700 (6 kg, shorter reach) or to the Techman TM12. You can choose vacuum and electric grippers from suppliers such as OnRobot or Robotiq. Programming in TMflow uses flowcharts, which speeds up commissioning the station.
Typical applications
Who it's for
The TM5-900 is for you if you handle light parts and the station needs a reach longer than 700 mm. It suits packing, electronics, laboratories and small lines where quick, precise handling of small items matters.
Do not choose it for tasks with heavy items: 4 kg is the lowest payload in the family. It is also unsuitable for palletizing heavier packaging. If a 900 mm reach is still not enough, consider a larger arm, for example the Doosan A0912 (1200 mm reach, 9 kg payload). Beware of the lack of a public price: Techman does not publish one, and you have to obtain an offer from TFM Robotics, the only Polish distributor listed for this model.
Comparison
Four reasonable alternatives for stations with light parts and a longer reach.
The Techman TM5-700 is the same family; choose it when you need a 6 kg payload and the station is compact.
The Doosan A0912 has a 9 kg payload and a 1200 mm reach, weighs 31 kg, has ±0.05 mm repeatability, and you can buy it through coboty-doosan.pl; sensible when you need more reach and strength.
The UR5e gives a 5 kg payload and an 850 mm reach, and distributors list it at around PLN 128,000 (≈ EUR 29,330); choose it for the ecosystem and integrators.
The Doosan M0609 has a 6 kg payload and a 900 mm reach, the same reach as the TM5-900 but a higher payload; worth a price comparison.

History
The TM5-900 belongs to the oldest family from Techman Robot (founded in 2016 in Taoyuan). It is a variant of the Techman TM5-700 with a longer reach, and the later models in the range are the Techman TM12, Techman TM14, Techman TM16, Techman TM20 and the S series. The public datasheet comes from Omron, a distributor of Techman's robots. The launch date of the TM5-900 is not documented. Manufacturer profile: Techman Robot.
