Summary

52 degrees of freedom, a waist that rotates ±162° and tilts 125°, fourth-generation hands and a 15 kg payload within a working envelope of up to 1.8 meters (range 0 to 1.8 m per the manufacturer's official site): that, in short, is the Walker S2, the next generation of UBTECH's industrial humanoid, presented in July 2025.

The biggest technical curiosity is the autonomous dual-battery swap system, taking under 3 minutes, which allows continuous 24/7 operation, a solution rarely seen even among more expensive competitors like the Figure 02 or Tesla Optimus, which do not offer such a feature.

The robot already works at, among others, the Dongfeng Liuzhou, Geely, FAW-Volkswagen Qingdao, Audi FAW, BAIC New Energy, Foxconn and SF Express factories, and paid series deliveries began in November 2025. Even so, the manufacturer gives no height, weight, walking speed or battery capacity in Wh, and the price remains entirely undisclosed, with not even an indicative figure.

Compared with the cheaper Unitree G1 EDU, the S2 offers a clearly higher payload and the unique battery swap, but with a complete lack of price transparency. A model for large production lines ready for individual negotiations, not for smaller integrators.

Running and deployment costs

The manufacturer gives no price for the Walker S2: the UBTECH site has no price field for this model, so there is no zloty amount listed. Instead of guessing, we give a reference point from the family: the educational Walker Tien Kung costs about USD 41,000 according to reports, which corresponds to roughly PLN 158,900 (≈ EUR 36,410 at NBP rate 4.3641 of 21 October 2026). But that is a different class of robot, so it should not be multiplied or transferred directly to the S2.

As a rough estimate: an industrial humanoid in this class means hundreds of thousands of zloty per unit when ordered in enterprise mode, plus integration, a battery-swap station, team training and service. The autonomous battery swap lowers the cost of downtime, but it does not eliminate the cost of spare cells.

The way to build a calculation is described in “Humanoid Robot TCO: How to Calculate Total Cost”.

Applications

What it's for

The Walker S2 is an industrial humanoid from UBTECH: the robot has two batteries and can swap its power supply by itself in about 3 minutes, so in theory it can work 24/7. On top of that come 52 degrees of freedom (DOF), a 15 kg payload, an arm reach of 1.8 m and a waist range of ±162° rotation and 125° tilt, so it can bend down to a bottom shelf and reach sideways without repositioning its feet.

The manufacturer aims the S2 at two industries: manufacturing and logistics. In practice, that means tasks such as moving crates from a cart to a workstation, handling totes in intralogistics, loading containers or kitting parts. According to the manufacturer, the robots work at, among others, the Dongfeng Liuzhou, Geely, FAW-Volkswagen Qingdao, Audi FAW, BAIC New Energy, Foxconn and SF Express factories, and paid series deliveries began in November 2025.

Applications: “Warehouse and logistics” and factories. The Co-Agent / BrainNet 2.0 architecture for swarm coordination is important: many robots are meant to share tasks instead of each working alone. The vision sensor is a passive binocular RGB system. What is missing, however, are weight, speed and price, so the S2 cannot yet be compared with its rivals in a purely numerical way.

Typical applications

  • Manufacturing
  • Logistics

Who it's for

Worth considering for: large production plants and logistics centers with three-shift work, where continuity matters more than elegance of movement; integrators who want to test the swarm model in a real environment; companies ready for negotiations in enterprise mode, because there is no price list.

Probably not for: small plants looking for payback within a year and a predictable price; institutions that require local service in Poland, because we know of no distributor; schools and universities, where robots with an open SDK, described in “Educational robots”, are much cheaper for teaching programming. We also do not recommend the S2 to those looking for a humanoid for the office or home, because it is designed for an industrial environment. For tasks at a single workstation, a cobots is often enough: cheaper and with documented safety standards.

Deployments

According to the manufacturer, the Walker S2 works at the Dongfeng Liuzhou, Geely, FAW-Volkswagen Qingdao, Audi FAW, BAIC New Energy, Foxconn and SF Express factories. The list is impressive, but we do not know the number of robots or the scope of their duties at individual plants, so we treat it as a manufacturer's claim.

What operates in the country today is rather AMR robots in warehouses, described in “AMR Robots in the Warehouse”, plus the first humanoids in education and at events. For a comparison of market directions, see “Humanoid Robot Market Forecasts”.

Comparison

The closest rival in logistics is the Agility Digit 5, an Agility Robotics humanoid designed to carry totes in a warehouse.

If you want to check out an American contender for factories, look at the Apptronik Apollo, developed with industrial partners, including Mercedes (see “Apptronik Apollo in Mercedes-Benz Factories”).

For comparison with a single research platform, we recommend the Unitree G1 EDU: we set them side by side as a swarm scheme versus a single unit. The G1 EDU is available in Poland, but it has no architecture for 24/7 work.

A candidate with a well-developed AI side is the Figure 03, but at present without a public price list or purchase channels in Poland (details in “Figure 03: What We Know About Figure AI's Third-Generation Robot”).

The cheapest route to industrial experience remains the cobot approach, described in “What Is a Cobot and How Does It Differ from an Industrial Robot”.
