Founded in Estonia and operationally based in Tallinn, Starship Technologies has completed more than 10 million deliveries with six-wheeled autonomous robots and operates in more than 300 cities and campuses worldwide. It is the largest European company in the sidewalk delivery robot segment by scale, ahead in reach of America's Serve Robotics, which focuses mainly on the US market.

The company has confirmed operations in Finland, Germany, the United Kingdom and Sweden through partnerships with Coop, REWE, S Group, Bolt, Wolt and Just Eat. According to reports from October 2025, the company raised a Series C round of USD 50 million. The manufacturer gives no information on a presence in, or plans to enter, the Polish market.

For Polish retail chains and delivery platforms, it is the most operationally experienced partner in Europe if they decide to extend trials to Poland.

History and development

Starship Technologies is a company founded in Estonia, with its operational base in Tallinn, specializing in six-wheeled delivery robots that travel on sidewalks. The manufacturer does not state a founding year, so we do not give one; we state what is documented. According to the company, its robots have completed more than 10 million deliveries and operate in more than 300 cities and campuses worldwide. Confirmed operational presence in Europe is described through partnerships with retail chains and delivery platforms: Coop, REWE, S Group, Bolt, Wolt and Just Eat, with the countries being Finland, Germany, the United Kingdom and Sweden. According to reports from October 2025, the company raised a Series C round of 50 million USD. The business model differs from that of most manufacturers in our catalog: the robot is usually offered as a delivery service rather than sold outright. The context of such services is covered in “Service Robots in Restaurants and Hotels”, and the general classification in service robots. For analysis it also matters that the scale of deliveries comes from the company itself, not from an independent audit, so we treat the figures as the manufacturer's claim.

Portfolio

In our catalog the company is represented by Starship Delivery Robot, a six-wheeled courier robot in the service robots category. It is 69.7 cm tall, weighs about 38 kg and carries 10 kg; the manufacturer states up to 18 hours of operation on a single charge. The robot delivers food and parcels on sidewalks, mainly in cities and on campuses. There is no verified manufacturer price: secondary sources cite unconfirmed amounts of roughly 5,000–15,000 USD per unit, but the usual model is a delivery service, not a sale. For that reason we give no price in zloty. The parameters show a machine designed for a repeatable short city route rather than for versatility; a similar distinction is explained in “How to Read a Robot Datasheet”. Because the robot moves among people and carries cameras, the rules described in “Data Security: Robots with Cameras and the GDPR” also matter. Vehicles of this type belong to the wider family of mobile robots described in “Mobile robots (AMR)”. The range of deliveries is therefore set not by the robot itself but by the layout of the city: sidewalks, crossings and weather affect how far and how fast the robot gets there. The manufacturer gives no top speed or range in kilometers, so we do not cite those values.

Market position

Starship is the largest European company, by scale, in the sidewalk courier-robot segment. In reach it is ahead of the American Serve Robotics, which focuses mainly on the US market, and of Coco Robotics; their models are covered by the entries Serve Robotics Gen 3 and Coco 2. Starship's edge is operational experience: the number of deliveries, partnerships with retail chains and platforms such as Bolt or Wolt, and the ability to raise capital. Weaker points are dependence on rules for robots on sidewalks, which differ from country to country, and the lack of profitability data. The manufacturer does not publish financial results, so we infer the company's condition only from reports of the funding round. For the wider picture of the robotic-services market, the overview “Humanoid Robot Market Forecasts” helps, although it concerns a different class of machine. For a store or delivery-platform operator this means one thing: judging Starship is in practice judging a service, its reliability and the cost of one delivery, not the robot's parameters.

Presence in Poland

The manufacturer gives no information on a presence in, or plans to enter, the Polish market, and in our catalog the model is listed as unavailable in the country. The confirmed markets are Finland, Germany, the United Kingdom and Sweden. For Polish retail chains and delivery platforms, though, Starship is the most operationally experienced partner in Europe should they decide to extend trials to our market. Details on retail use are on the page “Retail and shops”, and domestic robotics companies are listed in the overview “Polish Robotics Companies”. When assessing such a partner it is worth asking about the cost of a single delivery and about the rules for working with local city authorities.

Editorial verdict

Starship is the most mature European operator of sidewalk delivery robots, proven at a scale of more than 10 million deliveries. For a Polish customer the key facts are, however, its absence from the country and a service model rather than a purchase. If Starship does enter Poland, it will be a first-choice partner. For Polish companies it is a benchmark against which local attempts will be compared. Were it to enter Poland, it would change the balance of power in last-mile delivery. For now, though, it is an interesting reference point, not an available offer.
