Spot or B2? That is the question from energy plants, rescue services and integrators who want to buy a quadruped for inspection and have heard that the Chinese Unitree B2 is “stronger on paper” than the American pioneer. The Boston Dynamics Spot from Boston Dynamics has been sold since 2020 and is the reference point for the entire category. The B2 from Unitree Robotics is younger and beats Spot in almost every row of the spec sheet. A buyer wants to know whether the numbers translate into better work in the field, what it costs, and whether anyone in Poland will provide delivery and service. We answer these questions in turn.

Design and specifications
The difference starts with mass and battery. Spot weighs 33.8 kg, stands 61 cm, has 12 degrees of freedom and a 564 Wh battery that lasts about 90 minutes, with a one-hour charge. The B2 weighs 60 kg, stands 64.5 cm and carries a 2250 Wh battery that gives 4–6 hours of work and over 20 km of range unloaded (over 15 km with a 20 kg load).
Spot's payload is 14 kg on a mounting plate measuring 850×240×270 mm. According to the manufacturer the B2 lifts up to 120 kg statically and carries over 40 kg while walking continuously. Speed is 1.6 m/s against up to 6 m/s for the B2 in a special configuration. The B2 climbs 20–25 cm stairs in continuous walking, clears obstacles up to 40 cm and handles slopes above 45°.
In sensing, the B2 has a 3D LiDAR, two depth cameras and two optical cameras, plus an Intel Core i5 or i7 computer with room for your own software. Spot has a 360-degree view with a 4 m range and is known for a polished software ecosystem. It also has an IP54 enclosure and an operating range of −20 to 55°C; we have no confirmed ingress rating for the B2. If you are building your own comparison table, it helps to read about “How to Read a Robot Datasheet”.
Price and availability in Poland
Neither manufacturer publishes a price on its site. Spot is sold on request under an enterprise model; the only figure we have seen is USD 74,500 from mid-2020, roughly PLN 288,800 (≈ EUR 66,060) today. For the B2, guides give a range of USD 76,900–296,000, which says little.
In Poland the availability gap shows. The B2 is offered by x-kom (PLN 270,000 (≈ EUR 61,760)) and Botland (PLN 299,000 (≈ EUR 68,400)), so the domestic price lands close to Spot's indicative price. Spot has no confirmed distributor here, so ask the manufacturer for a partner in the region and for references from similar plants. In both cases demand a trial walk of your own route before buying. We write more about Spot prices and deployments in “Boston Dynamics Spot: Price, Uses and Availability in Poland”.
Which model for which job
A plant that wants inspection on a construction site site or in the energy sector and counts on a proven platform with a long track record will choose Spot. It has a longer deployment history and a broader ecosystem. We know of no documented deployments of Spot or the B2 in Poland, however.
The B2 suits tasks where strength and range count: carrying tools, long patrol routes, rescue and security. With loads of 20–40 kg Spot simply has no chance. The Polish accent in this category is the MAB Robotics Honey Badger 4.0 from Poznań, used in district-heating channels, and an overview of quadruped uses is in “Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry”. The B2's weight (60 kg) must be allowed for in transport and handling, and for work near people read about “Robot Safety Standards”.
Conclusion
Spot, on sale since 2020, remains the benchmark among industrial quadrupeds, but on specifications it clearly trails the B2: payload of 14 kg against 40 kg, speed of 1.6 m/s against 6.0 m/s, and runtime of 1.5 hours against 5 hours, thanks to a far larger battery (2,250 Wh against 564 Wh). The B2 is also heavier (60 kg versus 33.8 kg), which reflects its greater power reserve and sensor payload: 3D LiDAR plus two pairs of cameras. On price the two sit in a similar, high range: Spot at about $74,500 by 2020 figures, the B2 at roughly $100,000 at most, although sources give a wide spread of $76,900 to $296,000 depending on configuration. Spot has a longer track record in industrial and construction inspection; the B2 is newer and technically stronger, but has a shorter market history outside China.
You need more strength, longer runtime and availability in Polish shops: the B2. The parameters speak for themselves here, and the shorter deployment history calls for talks with two suppliers and a trial before ordering.
You value a mature ecosystem, manufacturer service and experience from similar plants: Spot, though you pay for the brand and the platform, not for the figures on the sheet. If the task is simpler and the budget limited, start with the smaller Unitree Go2. If you are curious about competitors of a similar class, check the DEEP Robotics Lynx and the ANYbotics ANYmal D. The full overview of quadrupeds is in the quadruped robots category.
Frequently asked questions
Which robot can carry more?
The Unitree B2, at 40 kg, carries nearly three times as much as Spot, which is rated for 14 kg.
Is Spot cheaper than the B2?
Broadly yes, on the figures available, although the B2's price is quoted across a wide range of $76,900 to $296,000, which makes a clear comparison hard.
Which model runs longer?
The B2, up to 5 hours on its 2,250 Wh battery, against 1.5 hours for Spot with its 564 Wh battery.
Which robot has the greater payload?
The B2: up to 120 kg statically and over 40 kg while walking. Spot carries 14 kg.
Which robot runs longer?
The B2, 4–6 hours thanks to its 2250 Wh battery. Spot runs about 1.5 hours on a 564 Wh battery.
Can I buy Spot in Poland?
We found no confirmed distributor. The B2 is sold by x-kom and Botland.
