Design and specifications

The B2 is a quadruped in the traditional layout: 60 kg, 64.5 cm, 12 degrees of freedom. The Lynx has 35 kg, 57 cm and 16 degrees of freedom, but combines legs with wheels, so on flat ground it rolls and on obstacles it walks. The manufacturer gives continuous stair climbing of 22–25 cm, platforms up to 80 cm and slopes of 45°. According to its manufacturer the B2 handles 20–25 cm stairs, obstacles up to 40 cm and slopes above 45°.

Payload and runtime favor the B2: over 40 kg while walking (up to 120 kg statically) against 15 kg for the Lynx, and 4–6 hours on a 2250 Wh battery against 3 hours. Speed is similar: up to 6 m/s for the B2 in a special configuration and 5 m/s for the Lynx. In return the Lynx has an IP66 enclosure and hot-swappable batteries, while we have no confirmed ingress rating for the B2.

Sensors are another difference. The B2 has one 3D LiDAR, two depth cameras and two optical cameras, plus an Intel Core i5 or i7 computer. The Lynx has two 96-line 360°×90° LiDARs, two wide-angle cameras and two eight-core industrial processors (16 GB + 128 GB). For scanning the surroundings, the Lynx is better equipped. Price and availability in Poland

The base Lynx costs from about USD 17,999 (about PLN 69,800 (≈ EUR 15,990)), and the fully equipped Lynx M20 Pro from about USD 61,200. In Poland we saw an offer from deltarobots.com for the M20 at PLN 154,900 (≈ EUR 35,490); it is the only shop we found, and it is worth asking which configuration stands behind that price.

For the B2, guides give a wide range of USD 76,900–296,000. Polish shops offer it for PLN 270,000 (≈ EUR 61,870) (x-kom) and PLN 299,000 (≈ EUR 68,510) (Botland). We have no official manufacturer price lists, so the comparison is indicative: in Poland the Lynx M20 comes out at almost half the price of the B2. Before buying either, ask for a written configuration specification and a trial run of your own route.

Which model for which job

The B2 suits heavy-load transport, long routes and rescue better. With a 40 kg payload and several hours of runtime, the robot is a tool, not just a sensor platform. It fits security and industrial inspection on large sites.

The Lynx will do better where fast travel in mixed terrain and rich scanning of the surroundings count: inspection of hard-to-reach areas, exploration, research. The manufacturer also adds research to its target groups. For ordinary plant inspections on a construction site site it is still safer to pick the more mature Boston Dynamics Spot or the DEEP Robotics X30. An overview of quadruped uses: “Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry”. When choosing, also compare running costs. The B2 is heavier (60 kg against 35 kg), so it needs stronger logistics for transport and handling. Thanks to its wheels the Lynx covers long, flat routes faster, but its youth means fewer user reports. Before ordering, ask the supplier for a test on your own stairs, ramps and route, because spec-sheet parameters rarely reflect the conditions of a particular plant.

Conclusion

The Lynx is lighter (35 kg versus 60 kg) and a little slower than the B2 (5.0 m/s versus 6.0 m/s), but it spans a much wider price range: from about $17,999 for the base configuration to about $61,200 for the fully equipped Lynx M20 Pro. The B2 has the bigger payload (40 kg versus 15 kg) and the longer runtime (5 hours versus 3 hours), which makes it the better choice for transport tasks, while the Lynx, with its dual 96-line 360°x90° LiDAR, looks more geared toward field inspection and exploring hard-to-reach areas. Both target industry and security, though the Lynx explicitly adds research as a target group. For hauling heavy loads over rough ground the B2 has the payload advantage; for precise scanning and mapping of the surroundings the Lynx offers richer LiDAR sensing.

Heavy load, long runtime and availability in Polish shops: the B2. The longer battery and 40 kg payload are real advantages, but the shorter deployment history calls for a trial before ordering.

Fast travel in mixed terrain, precise scanning and a lower purchase price: the Lynx. It is young, so the risk concerns service maturity; ask for a test on your own stairs and ramps. An alternative from the same Unitree family is the Unitree A2, and the whole shelf is described in the quadruped robots category.
