The Honey Badger 4.0 is a quadruped inspection robot from the Polish company MAB Robotics of Poznań, a spin-off of Poznań University of Technology founded in 2016, and one of few walking robots in this comparison made in Poland. It weighs 12 kg (26 lb), stands 50 cm (20 in) tall, carries up to 4 kg and runs for up to 2 hours on a single charge. Its key feature is an IP67-rated housing that allows work underwater, which makes it a versatile platform for carrying sensors and tools in difficult terrain. Since 2023, version 3.0 has been used in real inspections of district-heating tunnels and sewers in Poznań.
Compared with Chinese and American industrial quadrupeds such as Unitree or Boston Dynamics Spot, the Honey Badger has a lower payload (4 kg versus a dozen or so kilograms for the competition), but offers an underwater capability that is unique in this group and a documented municipal deployment in Poland. The manufacturer does not publish a price list; sales happen only through direct contact (mabrobotics.pl, email, phone), with an offer tailored to the sensor configuration.
The robot is intended mainly for municipal utilities, inspection services and research centers, and less for individual customers or small companies, given the lack of a public price and the niche nature of its applications.

The manufacturer does not publish a price list; sales happen only through direct contact, with an offer tailored to the sensors. We therefore do not know the purchase price and do not state one. As a rough class-wide reference, industrial quadrupeds range from several tens of thousands to several hundred thousand zloty, so that is a benchmark, not a MAB offer. On top of the purchase come sensors (cameras, thermal imaging, gas), operator training, servicing and possibly data-analysis software. The 4.0 units are covered by warranty support only, which is worth bearing in mind when buying on the second-hand market.
The Honey Badger 4.0 from MAB Robotics is a small four-legged robot: 50 cm tall, 12 kg, an IP67 housing, and so able to work underwater too. It is a robot that, in its 3.0 version, has been in real use since 2023 for inspecting Poznań’s district-heating tunnels and sewers. Its payload is 4 kg, so it is no pack mule; it is a platform for carrying sensors and tools where a person should not or cannot go.
Its listed tasks include inspection of heating tunnels and sewers, underwater inspection, and search-and-rescue services. Continuous operation is about 2 hours per charge, which is enough for a typical inspection stretch. It fits municipal and industrial jobs, for example in a factory for checking hard-to-reach installations, as well as research work at a university. It is not a home robot or a toy; the general role of quadrupeds is explained in “Quadruped Robots: Uses in Inspection, Security and Industry”.
A good fit: municipal utilities, inspection services and research centers that have to enter dangerous, wet and narrow places and want a Polish manufacturer with a local point of contact. Who it does not suit: individual customers and small companies, since there is no public price, the offer is tailored to the sensor configuration, and the applications are niche. Important: according to the manufacturer’s website, version 4.0 has been withdrawn from sale (as of late September 2026); the current flagship is the Honey Badger 5.0, and only warranty support remains for 4.0 users. If you want a robot to buy, ask about the newer version. See also the category “Quadruped robots”.
The best-documented deployment is Poznań: since 2023 the Honey Badger in version 3.0 has been inspecting district-heating tunnels and sewers. A 2025 report on wnp.pl describes how MAB sells its platform mainly abroad, and the founders said that at home they were told they were “not innovative”. The robot has also appeared at defense fairs in the Poznań region and in Kielce. We do not confirm any other named customers. For a broader picture of the Polish market, see “Polish Robotics Companies”.
If you want a quadruped for inspection, you have several routes. Boston Dynamics Spot is the best-known robot in this class, with a high payload and a large ecosystem; we cover it in “Boston Dynamics Spot: Price, Uses and Availability in Poland”, and it carries an indicative price of around PLN 288,777 (≈ EUR 66,060 at NBP rate 4.3716 of 20 October 2026). ANYbotics ANYmal D is a model designed from the outset for industrial inspection in harsh conditions. DEEP Robotics X30 is a Chinese counterpart for industrial tasks, at an indicative price of around PLN 252,000 (≈ EUR 57,640). Unitree B2 is much heavier and more expensive than the Honey Badger, but has a far higher payload. Where waterproofing and small size are critical, MAB remains a niche choice.

MAB Robotics is a spin-off of Poznań University of Technology founded in 2016. The Honey Badger was introduced in 2022 and has been through several generations: version 3.0 has been used since 2023 for inspecting Poznań’s tunnels, and today the manufacturer sells the 5.0 model. In 2025 the company won an RBR50 Innovation Award, making the list of the 50 most innovative robotics companies in the world. In September 2025 it showed the Honey Badger at the MSPO defense fair in Kielce. Company profile: MAB Robotics Sp. z o.o..
