The Polish mark-up: how much more Unitree robots cost than the manufacturer's list price

The result in one sentence

Polish shops sell Unitree robots, in the same variants, for roughly twice the manufacturer's list price converted into zloty. The median across five products is +97%, and the medians for individual products sit between +89% and +116% (n = 5 products, 16 offers at 5 shops, prices from 27-28 September 2026). All five products come from a single manufacturer, so the result must not be stretched to the whole robot market.

How we calculated it

The starting point is the price tables on Unitree's own product pages, quoted without taxes and without shipping: the Go2 Air is listed at USD 1,600, the Go2 Pro at USD 2,800, the basic G1 at USD 13,500, the R1 Air at USD 4,900 and the R1 at USD 5,900. We converted these at the NBP average rate of 1 October 2026 (PLN 3.8762 per dollar), the same rate used across the whole site. On the other side stand the prices at x-kom, Komputronik, Botland, drony.net and deltarobots.com. Shops quote either gross or net amounts, so we brought everything to gross (net × 1.23). We compare like with like only: EDU versions, where the manufacturer says "contact sales", stay out of the sample.

What the difference is made of

We split the mark-up into two parts. The first is the 23% VAT: counted from the net price, the tax alone adds about 37 percentage points on top of the list price (median across products), which is roughly 38% of the total gap. The second part is what remains after removing VAT, around +60% at the median. It holds shop and distributor margin, transport, import handling, warranty and possibly customs duty.

We report customs duty as unknown. For tariff heading 8479 50 00 (industrial robots) the EU rate is 1.7%. Whether quadruped and humanoid robots from China fall under that heading is another matter, settled only by a binding tariff information decision for the specific product. Even if 1.7% of the list price applied, that would be under 2 percentage points out of several dozen, so duty does not explain the scale of the gap.

Shipping says more. Unitree's shop quotes the cost of shipping a single unit: USD 399-1,000 for the Go2 and USD 300-1,200 for the G1 and R1, with the buyer responsible for duties and taxes. For the Go2 Air that is 25-63% of the list price and could explain a large part of the remainder. For the G1 Basic it is only 2-9%, for the R1 Standard 5-20%, while the remainder after VAT there is about 54% and 62%. An importer bringing in a whole batch usually pays less per unit, so this is an order of magnitude and nothing more.

A self-import calculation

For comparison we built a model: list price plus shipping (low and high end of the manufacturer shop's range), the NBP rate, customs duty in the 1.7% scenario and 23% VAT. For the Go2 Air this gives PLN 9,693-12,607 (≈ EUR 2,220–2,880) gross, and the median shop price of PLN 11,999 (≈ EUR 2,740) falls inside that band. For the Go2 Pro the model gives PLN 15,511-18,425 (≈ EUR 3,550–4,210) against PLN 21,400 (≈ EUR 4,900) in shops. For the G1 Basic it is PLN 66,913-71,277 (≈ EUR 15,310–16,300) against PLN 99,000 (≈ EUR 22,650), and for the R1 Standard PLN 30,062-34,426 (≈ EUR 6,880–7,870) against PLN 45,500 (≈ EUR 10,410). This is a model, not an offer: it leaves out customs broker fees, warranty, service and returns. It does show, however, that for the pricier robots transport, duty and tax alone do not reach shop price levels.

What this means for buyers in Poland

A company registered as an active VAT payer can usually deduct input VAT, so for it the right reference is the mark-up without VAT, about +60%, not +97%.

Differences between shops for the same variant are smaller than the gap to the manufacturer but visible: the Go2 Air costs from PLN 11,840 (≈ EUR 2,710) to PLN 12,000 (≈ EUR 2,740) gross (a spread of 1%), the Go2 Pro from PLN 19,999 (≈ EUR 4,570) to PLN 21,400 (≈ EUR 4,900) (spread 7%). For the R1 Standard the highest gross amount (PLN 51,537 (≈ EUR 11,790)) comes from the deltarobots.com offer, which was marked as sold out when we read it.

What these data do not say

The sample is small and uniform: five products from one manufacturer. A median of five values is an indication, not a market norm. The R1 Air has a single offer (x-kom), so its +116% is not a result drawn from several shops; without the R1 Air the median is 95%.

Our database holds 29 models with a Polish shop price. 4 entries entered the analysis (that is 5 products, because the Go2 appears as Air and Pro). The remaining 25 models dropped out because the manufacturer gives no list price (Unitree B2 and H1, EDU versions "on request") or because the dollar figure comes from a reseller's price list rather than the manufacturer. We therefore claim nothing about Keenon, Pudu, Dobot or Deep Robotics. The reasons are listed in the table "Models with a Polish shop price that could not be assessed".

The VAT status is verified for 10 of the 16 offers; for the other six we assumed gross, since that is how shops usually show consumer prices. Had they been net prices, the median would rise to 111%. The dollar moved between 3.7931 and 3.8762 during the period, which shifts the median within 97-101%. Finally, two pages of the manufacturer disagree: Unitree's shop shows USD 2,800 for the Go2 Air, while the table on the product page says USD 1,600. We used the table because it gives variant-specific prices. Had the higher amount been correct, the Go2 Air mark-up would fall to about 11%, and the median across the five products would stay unchanged.
