Israeli startup Mentee Robotics of Herzliya, founded in 2022 by Mobileye co-founder Amnon Shashua together with professors Lior Wolf and Shai Shalev-Shwartz, is developing the MenteeBot humanoid for warehouse and logistics automation.

On January 6, 2026, Mobileye announced an agreement to acquire Mentee Robotics for about USD 900 million, one of the larger deals in the logistics humanoid segment, alongside the valuation of LimX Dynamics (USD 2.2 billion). The catalogue holds two profiles of the platform: the 3rd-generation MenteeBot (status pilot) and the earlier MenteeBot V3 (status prototype).

The acquisition by Mobileye may speed up commercialization of the MenteeBot platform.

History and development

Mentee Robotics has a pedigree that impresses even before the first robot video. The company from Herzliya, Israel, was founded in 2022, and at its helm is Amnon Shashua, co-founder of Mobileye, together with professors Lior Wolf and Shai Shalev-Shwartz. The goal was practical from the start: the MenteeBot humanoid for warehouses and logistics and, longer term, for homes. The manufacturer says series production of the 3rd-generation model will start in 2028, with a home version around 2030. The key date is January 6, 2026. Mobileye then announced an agreement to acquire Mentee Robotics for about USD 900 million. It is one of the larger deals in the logistics humanoid segment. For clarity: an acquisition means the founders' idea gets the backing of a large, publicly listed company known for automotive technology. We do not know the headcount or the details of earlier funding rounds. This story fits the trend described in “Humanoid Robot Market Forecasts”, in which large corporations buy teams instead of building them from scratch.

Portfolio

The catalogue holds two profiles of the MenteeBot platform. The MenteeBot V3 (3rd generation) is 175 cm tall, has a 25 kg payload and pilot status: in 2026 a proof-of-concept (PoC) phase is under way, with order-fulfillment centers, assembly and warehouses as use cases. The MenteeBot V3 has prototype status and broader data: 175 cm, 65 kg, 55 degrees of freedom (DOF), a 25 kg payload and 4 hours of runtime. A price of USD 35,000 (about PLN 135,670 (≈ EUR 31,090 at NBP rate 4.3641 of 21 October 2026)) comes from a single, uncertain source. Do not treat it as an offer. Both profiles aim at similar tasks: receiving goods, moving parcels and palletizing, typical scenes from a warehouse. If you want to compare with another logistics humanoid, look at the Agility Digit 5. How to read such figures is explained in the article “How to Read a Robot Datasheet”. Before comparing the MenteeBot with another robot, check which version the figures refer to and whether they come from the manufacturer.

Market position

The company's valuation comes down to one number, but a strong one: about USD 900 million in the Mobileye acquisition announced in January 2026. Funding rounds are not listed. End customers have not been named publicly, as the models are at the pilot and prototype stage. In logistics humanoids it competes with Agility Robotics, which delivers the Agility Digit 5 to warehouses, and with Apptronik and its Apptronik Apollo. Mentee's edge is meant to be software, not just hardware, but that thesis will only be tested by deployments. We describe the market setting in the article “Humanoid Robots in Factories 2026”. In practice Mentee's position depends on whether Mobileye gives it what no startup can buy: production at scale, industry contacts and patience. Market history shows that an acquisition can be a road to scale, but it can also be the end of an independent brand. For now neither is publicly visible.

Presence in Poland

Mentee Robotics has no confirmed presence in Poland: no distributor is known, both models are marked unavailable in the country, and no deployments in Polish plants have been recorded. For Polish warehouses the more important question is when Mobileye will start offering the robot on the European market. For now it is a prototype and a pilot, so the only real channel is direct contact with the company. If you run a Polish warehouse and want to be ready for this technology, start by calculating total cost of ownership; the article “Humanoid Robot TCO: How to Calculate Total Cost” can help. Until then it is worth following Mobileye's announcements, since they will point to the first customers in Europe.

Editorial verdict

Mentee Robotics has the strongest argument in this group of ten: a concrete deal worth about USD 900 million and experienced founders. It also has a prototype, not a product. Follow it for logistics, but do not count on a delivery to a Polish warehouse before 2028. The question for the coming years is whether the robot will learn real warehouse work faster than customer expectations change. For a Polish reader this is market observation, not a purchase decision; a good backdrop is the article “Humanoid Robots and the Polish Labor Market”.
