DENSO Robotics is the robotics division of the Japanese automotive group DENSO Corporation, rooted in decades of experience automating production lines for the car industry. The compact COBOTTA (a 4 kg unit with a small payload) is operated through the tablet app “COBOTTA World”, while the more capable COBOTTA PRO series, including the PRO 900 model, targets industrial applications that need a higher payload.

Against competitors in the cobot segment such as Doosan or Dobot, DENSO stands out for the engineering backing of its automotive parent, which translates into reliability, though not necessarily into the lowest price. The manufacturer provides no information on a Polish distributor or local price lists. The solution suits plants with existing DENSO infrastructure or those that want a proven industrial brand.

History and development

DENSO Robotics grew out of the Japanese automotive group DENSO Corporation, and its roots are decades of experience automating production lines for the car industry. The division's founding year and headquarters are not given, so we don't state them. What matters is what shows in the products: DENSO does not try to build a humanoid but develops collaborative and industrial arms, including the COBOTTA family. The compact COBOTTA is a 4 kg design operated through the tablet app “COBOTTA World”, the idea being that the robot sits on a desk and learns simple pick&place tasks. The more capable COBOTTA PRO series, including the PRO 900, targets industrial applications that require a higher payload. That is the path from the bench to the shop floor: first a small cobot for learning and prototyping, then a larger one for work at the line. The company has no media history of dramatic twists, and stability is its hallmark. Before choosing an arm, read “What Is a Cobot and How Does It Differ from an Industrial Robot” and [[wiedza:cobot-czy-robot-przemysłowy]]. The automotive pedigree is both an asset and a limitation: the company understands the requirements of production lines but does not build a media narrative.

Portfolio

DENSO COBOTTA is an ultra-compact cobot: 4 kg dead weight, a 0.5 kg payload and a price on request only. Its applications are pick&place and desktop automation, so it suits small tasks, education and prototypes, not heavy work. DENSO COBOTTA PRO 900 is industrial: a 6 kg payload and a price of about USD 32,000 (about PLN 124,000 (≈ EUR 28,410)) according to an external estimate, not an official figure. It is intended for industrial production automation. The difference in scale between the two models, 0.5 kg versus 6 kg, shows that DENSO serves two different worlds: the bench and the line. Anyone looking for a higher payload should also compare the offering in the cobots category, and the buying guide “How to Buy a Cobot Step by Step” suggests what to look out for. The application is primarily factories, and COBOTTA fits well in laboratories. Consider grippers too, for example from OnRobot. In practice, COBOTTA will do well at a lab station or in operator training, and the PRO 900 in machine tending and assembly. Before you request a quote, check in the guide “How to Read a Robot Datasheet” which parameters to demand from the supplier, and in the article on standards which safety requirements apply: “Robot Safety Standards”.

Market position

Against competitors in the cobot segment, such as Doosan Robotics or Dobot, DENSO stands out for the engineering backing of its automotive parent, which translates into reliability, though not necessarily into the lowest price. Other rivals are Universal Robots, FANUC, Yaskawa Electric and Omron Robotics, well-established brands with extensive service networks; among Japanese makers also Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Seiko Epson. Data on the division's funding, valuation and headcount is not public. We don't have a customer list either. The price of about USD 32,000 for the PRO 900 is only an external estimate. For comparison, it is worth setting the cobot against the Fanuc offering described in “FANUC CRX: The Cobot Series with 8 Years of Zero Maintenance” and Universal Robots in “Universal Robots UR5e, UR10e and UR20 Compared”. The closest comparison is Doosan and Dobot, which have a wider network in Poland; DENSO offers in return the solid brand of a major group. It is also worth checking how Techman Robot and JAKA Robotics fare in the cobot category.

Presence in Poland

The manufacturer gives no information on a Polish distributor or local price lists, and we have no confirmed availability of either model in Poland. We don't know of any deployments on the Vistula either. That means a purchase would require contacting DENSO directly or through an integrator we cannot name. Support for investment is described in “Poland's Robotization Tax Relief” (Poland's robotization tax relief, ulga na robotyzację), and domestic integrators are shown in “Polish Robotics Companies”. Until a local partner appears, DENSO remains an option for companies ready to go it alone. Plants working in automotive supply chains should ask their customer whether such a robot is already running on his line.

Editorial verdict

DENSO COBOTTA is a solid choice for plants that value a proven industrial brand and have a contact at the manufacturer. For new users in Poland, the lack of a distributor and price list is a barrier. The PRO 900 is worth a request for quotation, but not a blind purchase. Ultimately, service will decide: without local support even a good robot becomes a risk. If you are planning a project today, start with a request for quotation and a check of service, and only then compare prices.
