Summary

CUE7 is the seventh generation of Toyota's basketball-shooting humanoid, a robot that sinks shots with a precision no player can match. The project began in 2017 as a volunteer effort by Toyota engineers and holds two Guinness records: free throws in 2019 and, as CUE6, a 24.5 m shot in 2024.

The new generation made its debut on 12 April 2026 at an Alvark Tokyo game in the Toyota Arena Tokyo, described by Toyota as a full model change. The Toyota Frontier Research Center reported that the weight dropped from 120 kg to 74 kg and that the robot now moves on an inverted two-wheel balancing chassis instead of legs, controlled by a combination of reinforcement learning and model predictive control.

Toyota has not officially stated the height of CUE7, nor its degrees of freedom, sensors or computer. The robot is a single unit and is not for sale, so there is no price. Its purpose is to demonstrate precise motion and perception rather than to perform useful work.

Toyota also appears in the catalogue with Toyota T-HR3, a humanoid developed for an entirely different purpose as a teleoperated avatar.
