Miko, the brand of Mumbai-based Emotix Inc. (founded in 2015), is a line of educational companion robots for children. The only model covered here is Miko 3, sold almost exclusively in India through Flipkart, Amazon and JioMart. Unlike Chinese rivals in the home segment such as Enabot or EnergizeLab, Miko bets on voice interaction and learning rather than mobility or camera features.

The company does not disclose funding, headcount or revenue. No distribution in Poland or the EU has been confirmed, so getting a unit here would mean a private import. For the Polish market the product remains an exotic: no localization, no service network and no local warranty make it hard to recommend beyond educational-toy enthusiasts.

The category stays niche next to established educational brands available locally. Parents interested in similar devices in Poland should expect international shipping costs and no local technical support.

History and development

Emotix Inc. of Mumbai was founded in 2015 and is the Indian maker behind Miko, a line of educational companion robots for children. The only model we cover is Miko 3, unveiled in January 2021 and on sale since June 2021. It sells almost exclusively in its home market, through Flipkart, Amazon India and JioMart, and that is the full extent of its reach that we can confirm. The manufacturer discloses no funding, headcount or revenue. The product has a parental dashboard in which a parent checks what the child has been learning; we make no promises about details the sources do not reveal. The company is an example of how the market for children's companion robots is growing outside the US and China too, usually with the same dependence on the cloud that sank Moxie. India is attractive to such firms for its scale and low prices for educational hardware, but as a result the product is tailored to local sales and support channels. For a Polish reader, Miko is therefore more a curiosity of the global market than a realistic purchase option, as we explain below.

Portfolio

Miko 3 is a touchscreen on a rotating base, with a camera and microphone, driven by the company's own Miko App-KI. It targets children aged 5 to 12, supports STEAM-style learning and includes a parental dashboard. The launch price in India was INR 37,999 including a two-year Max subscription, and the current Amazon India offer is around INR 19,490. We found no prices in USD, EUR or PLN. In the site's classification it is one of the educational robots (educational robots), and its uses fall under “Schools” (school) and homes (home). Miko relies on voice and learning, not mobility. For advice on choosing robots for children see “Educational Robots for Schools and Universities”, and for privacy risks see “Data Security: Robots with Cameras and the GDPR”. A touchscreen instead of a face with moving parts means a simpler build and lower cost, but also limited movement. The manufacturer does not publish weight, dimensions or battery life, so comparison with other models has to rest on features: conversation, learning and the parent app. For a contrast with mobile designs, see Enabot EBO Air 2.

Market position

Among companion robots for children, Miko is still around, unlike Moxie from Embodied, whose servers were switched off in 2025. That does not guarantee that a cloud-based model will last, however. Home and consumer counterparts include Enabot EBO Air 2 from Enabot and Vector 2.0 from Digital Dream Labs. Strictly educational products stand in contrast: LEGO Education SPIKE Prime Set and ROBOTIS OP3. There is no data on market position, valuation or funding, so we make no assessment. What sets Miko apart is voice interaction and learning; other technical parameters are not published in detail. Miko competes mainly on learning and play, not on technical specifications, and the same is true of most children's companion robots. Roundups such as “Educational Robots for Schools and Universities” help decide when a subscription is worth paying for and when a subscription-free solution is the better choice. The takeaway is simple: simply being on the market is no substitute for certainty that the services will still work in five years.

Presence in Poland

In Poland, Miko 3 has no official distribution: the manufacturer sells through Indian platforms, and no distributor has been confirmed in the EU. Bringing the robot in would require a private import, with no local warranty, service or Polish-language support. We found no deployments in Polish schools or universities. A school looking for a robot for classes will be better served by the guide “Educational Robots for Schools and Universities” and by “How to Start Learning Robotics in Poland” (how to start learning robotics in Poland). A camera and microphone in a device for children also raise GDPR questions, covered in “Data Security: Robots with Cameras and the GDPR”. We describe alternatives available in Poland in the educational robots category. Also check whether the Miko app offers a Polish interface.

Editorial verdict

Miko 3 is a closed world of the Indian market: practically out of reach for a Polish buyer without a private import. Without local service and language support, buying one is a risk, especially given the fate of Moxie. For a Polish school, a better choice is a robot with local support and teacher backing. Check beforehand whether a Polish buyer would get support after purchase, because none is visible in the sources, and budget for shipping and the subscription.
