A comparison of the Pudu BellaBot and the Keenon DinerBot T8. Both are Chinese robots for carrying dishes and collecting crockery, both have reached Polish restaurants and hotels, and both have distributors on the Vistula. The makers, Pudu Robotics of Shenzhen, founded in 2016, and Keenon Robotics, compete for the same venues. The question is therefore not „does a waiter robot pay off” but „which of these two suits my dining room, budget and staff”. The answer begins with the width of the aisle and the number of trays.

Design and specifications

The BellaBot is larger and stronger: 129 cm tall, 55 kg in mass, four trays and a 40 kg payload. The DinerBot T8 is 111 cm (384 × 468 × 1111 mm), 34 kg in mass, with three trays and a combined payload of 20 kg, half as much. Speed is 1.2 m/s for the BellaBot and 1.0 m/s for the T8. Runtime: the BellaBot up to 12 hours, the T8 up to 15 hours according to the maker; older trade offers gave 9–12 hours for the T8, so when ordering ask about the battery configuration. With such figures, runtime covers a full shift in both cases.

Navigation differs. The BellaBot finds its way by LiDAR and an RGB-D camera, making up to 5,400 obstacle scans a minute. The T8 detects obstacles with triple stereo vision and, according to the maker, moves through aisles from 55 cm wide; it also has a 10.1-inch touchscreen. For a restaurant with narrow passages this figure can be decisive, but 55 cm is a value declared for empty passages — measure the room with your own eyes, with chairs and guests. Distance sensors in such robots are a matter for specialist suppliers, such as SICK or Hokuyo, covered in our components overview. Price and availability in Poland

Price is an important argument here, but it comes mainly from the American market. The BellaBot costs 14,500 USD in the US, about 56,200 zloty at 3.8762, or 409 USD a month under a 36-month RaaS (robot-as-a-service) plan. Polish sellers quote prices on request; the trade press estimates the BellaBot at 45–70 thousand zloty net, though that is an estimate, not a manufacturer price list. The DinerBot T8 is priced in the US from about 5,500 to 11,000 USD depending on configuration, and 7,000 USD was taken as the value, about 27,130 zloty. On the Polish market the situation is less favourable: the T8 offer from the seller NetVet, recorded on Ceneo, is about 55.3 thousand zloty, so do not assume the American price gap carries over into zloty.

Availability is confirmed for both. The BellaBot is offered by sebotics.com, sas24.pl, rkserwis.com, gastrozona.pl and machinesforyou.pl, among others. The T8 is in the range of Polish Keenon distributors, including edikson.com and netvet.pl. Ask each for a price with tax, delivery, commissioning, training and a service agreement, because these decide the total cost. How to calculate the return on such an investment is described in “Service Robots in Restaurants and Hotels”.

Which model for which job

In a restaurant with a large dining room, high occupancy and long routes from kitchen to tables, the BellaBot's larger payload is an advantage: more trays per run means fewer runs. If waiters are also to clear crockery from tables, four trays and 40 kg are a real plus. In a venue with tighter aisles and less traffic, the T8 is a sensible choice: it is lower and lighter, and its three trays suffice for ordinary service.

In a hotel, especially for breakfasts in the dining room or room service on one floor, the reliability of navigation and compatibility with the lift and doors can matter more than payload. Ask the supplier about lift integration and how the robot copes with guest traffic. Remember camera data too: the privacy question is discussed in “Data Security: Robots with Cameras and the GDPR”. The whole category is described in “Service robots”.

Conclusion

BellaBot is clearly larger and stronger, at 129 cm tall, 55 kg and a 40 kg payload, versus 111 cm, 34 kg and a 20 kg payload for the DinerBot T8, which means it can carry more trays at once. The T8 moves more slowly (1.0 m/s versus 1.2 m/s), but it runs longer on a charge: up to 15 hours against the BellaBot's 12 hours, enough for a full restaurant shift. Price is the key argument here: BellaBot costs USD 14,500 in the US (about PLN 56,205 (≈ EUR 12,880)) or USD 409 a month under RaaS (robot-as-a-service), while the DinerBot T8 is much cheaper, from USD 7,000 (about PLN 27,130 (≈ EUR 6,220)). Both are actually available in Poland, BellaBot through a network of foodservice distributors (sebotics.com, gastrozona.pl and others); for the T8, no Polish sales channel is confirmed. For a venue on a tight budget, the T8 is the cheaper way in; for larger restaurants with higher occupancy, BellaBot offers the greater payload.

A large restaurant or hotel with long routes and high occupancy, where the robot is to work as a full helper: the BellaBot — it has more payload, four trays and confirmed availability from many Polish distributors. A smaller venue with a limited budget and narrower aisles: the DinerBot T8, which is lighter and, according to its maker, runs up to 15 hours, provided the Polish price offer proves truly better than the American range.

Do not decide on the table alone. Ask for a demonstration in your own dining room at peak hours, measure the narrowest passage and count how many runs the robot will replace daily. That will show whether the surcharge for the larger model pays back.
