Summary

The Z1 is the smaller sibling of the MagicBot Gen1 from the same Chinese company, Magiclab of Wuxi, founded in 2023, and was unveiled in July 2025. It stands 140 cm (4 ft 7 in) tall and weighs 40 kg (88 lb), clearly less than the industrial Gen1 (174 cm / 70 kg), and moves at up to 2.5 m/s (about 9 km/h). Sources give conflicting numbers of degrees of freedom, from 24 to 49, and the manufacturer does not state a figure unambiguously in any of the available material; the robot has dexterous MagicHand hands as its manipulation end effectors.

The Z1’s biggest promotional moment so far was the appearance of six units in a synchronized dance on China’s CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 2026, watched by more than 1.2 billion viewers, one of the largest public showings of a humanoid in history in terms of reach. Despite that publicity, the price has not been disclosed, and the robot is not available in Poland or in Europe.

Against other humanoids used for stage shows, such as the Unitree H1 or G1, the Z1 stands out for the record media reach of a single event, but like its competitors it remains at an early stage of commercialization outside the industrial and entertainment segments.
