Magiclab (Magic Atom Robotics Technology, Wuxi) was founded in December 2023, and by February 2026 six units of the MagicBot Z1 had appeared in China's CCTV Spring Festival gala broadcast, which by circulating estimates was watched by more than 1.2 billion viewers: a rare case of a humanoid robot with such mass media reach.

The second known model, the MagicBot Gen1, is being deployed in industrial applications. Sales run on an inquiry basis (quotes on request), although one reseller gives an indicative price of about USD 119,800 for the Standard version of the G1 model; this is not confirmed directly by the manufacturer, so we treat it as a hint, not a fact.

Nothing is known about funding, company valuation or a presence in Europe or Poland. The scale of recognition gained from a national TV appearance may translate into future interest from investors and industrial customers.

History and development

Magiclab is younger than most of the robots now learning to walk. The Wuxi company, formally Magic Atom Robotics Technology, was founded in December 2023, and in July 2025 it showed the compact MagicBot Z1 humanoid. The real media breakthrough came in February 2026. Six Z1 units appeared on the stage of the CCTV Spring Festival gala, which by circulating estimates was watched by more than 1.2 billion viewers. Think of how it looked: families around tables, television screens and small robots in synchronized choreography, advertising that no ordinary marketing budget can buy. Remember, though, that such a performance shows agility and production scale and says nothing about reliability in shift work. The second known model, the MagicBot Gen1, is already aimed at industrial use. The company is silent on funding rounds, valuation and headcount, and they cannot be found in available sources. It is a typical picture of a Chinese startup that wins attention first and discloses business details later. We describe the wider context of that market in the article “Chinese Humanoid Robots”.

Portfolio

The lineup has two humanoids with different purposes. The MagicLab MagicBot Z1 is 140 cm tall and weighs 40 kg; the manufacturer showed it in July 2025, and the sources link it to stage performances, industry and retail. It is a robot meant to catch the eye, hence its use in events. The MagicLab MagicBot Gen1 is bigger and more serious: 174 cm, 70 kg, 42 degrees of freedom (DOF), a payload of up to 15 kg and about 4 hours of runtime. The manufacturer points to production for it, a scenario typical of factories. Prices are not public, and sales are by inquiry. One reseller quotes roughly USD 119,800 for the Standard version of the G1 model, but the manufacturer has not confirmed this, so we treat the figure as a hint. To understand what 42 degrees of freedom means, see the article “Degrees of Freedom (DOF) in Humanoid Robots”. The difference in scale is clear: the Z1 is a robot for show and marketing, the Gen1 for work. That first role explains why there is much noise about the Z1 and quiet about the Gen1. The real test for the Gen1 will come when someone publishes results from a full shift of work, for example on an assembly line.

Market position

Magiclab's funding rounds and valuation are not known. The company's position has to be judged by what is visible: media recognition after the CCTV gala and two models in inquiry-based sales. Among Chinese humanoids the rivals are numerous and better documented. Unitree Robotics has a series with the Unitree G1 and public prices, UBTECH Robotics supplies robots to industrial customers, and AgiBot is building its own ecosystem. Against this background Magiclab stands out for the scale of its showcase, not the scale of deployments, which are not publicly visible. What such robots really cost and how to compare them is explained in “How Much Does a Humanoid Robot Cost in 2026”. A buyer should ask about dull but important things: warranty, spare-parts availability, software updates and support rules outside China. In this class a robot may impress on stage and then wait months for service. Until Magiclab discloses industrial customers and prices, comparisons with competitors that publish price lists remain only an estimate.

Presence in Poland

We have not confirmed Magiclab's presence in Poland: both models are listed as unavailable in the country, and no distributor is known. The only practical route is an inquiry to the manufacturer or a foreign reseller, which means import, customs duty, no local service and questions about compliance with EU rules. If you are thinking of renting a robot for an event, check the local market first; we describe it in “Renting a Humanoid Robot for an Event”. Remember also that a robot with cameras and sensors in a Polish workplace is subject to personal data rules (GDPR); we cover this in “Data Security: Robots with Cameras and the GDPR”.

Editorial verdict

Magiclab is above all a media phenomenon from Wuxi: a spectacular show, two models, and silence on prices and finances. Worth watching, but not worth planning a purchase in Poland. Only public prices and the first industrial customers will show whether the Gen1 is a product or just a promise. The company is an example of how easily publicity gets mistaken for readiness to work. Until prices and deployments are public, treat Magiclab as an interesting entry on a watch list, not as a supplier to send a request for quotation to.
