Yogi

Yogi was meant to be a home robot with the proportions of a toddler, soft silicone skin and movements expressive enough to invite affection rather than unease. Behind it stands the American company Cartwheel Robotics, led by Scott LaValley, formerly of Boston Dynamics and Disney.

The robot uses custom high-torque actuators with overload protection, and its motion is driven by what the company calls a Motion Language Model intended to generate expressive gestures. A walking prototype was scheduled for the Humanoids Summit in December 2025.

Industry reports say the company closed in early 2026, although no primary source confirms this, and the former website is no longer in the maker's hands. For that reason the catalogue keeps the prototype status and quotes no dimensions: height, weight, degrees of freedom, sensors, runtime and price were never officially published, and figures on third-party sites contradict each other. A companion robot that actually reached users is the Australian Abi, while the Russian AIDOL pursues emotional facial expression on a full walking body.
