The High Performance Humanoid Technologies Lab, H²T for short, is a research group at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology that has built the ARMAR family of humanoid robots since 1999. Successive generations, from the kitchen robot ARMAR-III through ARMAR-6 to the latest ARMAR-7, explore how a humanoid can assist people in homes, workshops and care facilities.
Hallmarks of the lab are torque-controlled arms, in-house underactuated hands and learning tasks from demonstration and spoken instruction. Its software, the open-source cognitive architecture ArmarX, is shared with other research teams. H²T robots are scientific platforms and are not sold.
