Tau Robotics of San Francisco, founded in 2024 by Alexander Koch and Cornelia Weinzierl, runs a home-cleaning service performed by humanoid robots that human operators control remotely. The business model doubles as a data engine: recordings from every visit train vision-language-action models that are meant to lead to autonomous general-purpose humanoids.
The service is invite-only, billed per robot-hour, and had covered more than 50 homes by September 2026. The company sells no hardware and publishes no specifications for the robots it uses.
