The Michelangelo Hand, catalogue number 8E500, is Ottobock's second myoelectric prosthesis in this catalogue and is built differently from the bebionic: four fingers move and a powered thumb provides opposition, while the motor count is not published. Seven grip positions are available. Opposition grip force is 70 N and neutral grip 15 N; the functional description also quotes 6 and 7 kg.
The hand opens 4.72 inches, about 120 mm, grips at roughly 325 mm per second and weighs 1.12 pounds, about 508 g. It operates on the Axon-Bus system at 11.1 V and pairs with the AxonWrist, which adds flexion, extension and rotation. The size corresponds to a 7 and three-quarter hand and the operating range is minus 10 to 60 degrees Celsius. There are no tactile sensors.
Supply is through prosthetists only, so the price is on request. Compared with the bebionic Hand EQD, the Michelangelo offers fewer grip patterns but almost twice the opposition grip force; among robot hands, ALLEX Hand claims a fingertip force in the same range.
